The hotel was really well placed in, very close to the Christmas market and within an easy walk of transport options such as trains. The hotel was clean, our rooms were quite big. The beds were very big, and very comfortable. The sofa bed was a little less comfortable but that's to be expected and didn't ruin the trip. Pillows are quite soft, so for those who like something a little more firm, it would be best asking for a second pillow. Breakfast is open until 10:30am. A great selection of food, both hot and cold which tastes great. Staff were very attentive and incredibly friendly and helpful. Only downside really was that you can hear people closing doors/talking in the corridors from your room

Perfect for an overnight stay
Rooms are small but ideall for a short stay, very convenient Location. As the Hotel is centrally located the street outside can be noisy but rooms are well soundproofed. Buffet breakfast is very good.

Its ok for Essen
The location of the hotel is walking distance to the train station. I was given a room not at the main building however across the street. Ugly building, very worn out carpet. Breakfast was acceptable.

I like the friendly staff and the location. I don't like the small dusty room. Also, my room was heading the street, and I couldn't sleep some nights due to drunk & party people shouting at it. This led to headaches and poor business performance for me.

Good hotel!
The hotel is located in the middle of the shoppingstreet centre of Essen. Really nice, clean and friendly people at the reception. Good bargain for a good stay with breakfast!! Essen is a typical German city. Cosy and good!

All a bit meh. Trying to be more upmarket than it actually is, while not getting the basics right. Shower clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly, wi-fi didn’t really work, TV barely had any channels accessible, no frills, toiletries or kettle. Basically just an okay bed, with a below average pillow. Also wasn’t great that directly opposite was a noisy bar, so wasn’t a great night here in any respect really.

Great Service, Odd Location, Not value for money.
The hotel is located in a pedestrianised area so it was difficult for the taxi to drop us off. Yes, the location is central for shopping, but it turns out to be in an area of town where there is lots of night club activity and general all-day, all-night street noise without double glazing. Rooms were in a separate building across the street with a door entry buzzer and no lift. Adjoining guests were quite noisy and seemed to be workers or night club go-ers. Breakfast was the usual continental fare; don't expect anything cooked despite the high additional price. The window in my room wouldn't lock closed and was held closed with sticky-tape. Heating system is quite air-locked and noisy and thermostatic radiator valves are well past their glory days and did not regulate properly. The staff were great. The charges on the website/hotel.com are far, far higher than that being charged in local currency at the hotel on the night. I felt a bit trapped on price. There are better places available at this money within 1km.

There was blood on the wall when I pointed it out the guy at reception smiled, the radiator was broken. I had to ask twice to get a replacement plug in heater The area was sketchy

At firstbwe entered the second building of the hotel as per the map and couldnt find the reception, the after asking arround we found out that the hotel has another building facing the street were we found the reception. Toilets are too small, every time you need to shower or brush your teeth the toilet will be flooded with water. I wilp defenitely chose another hotel if i will be back to this area someday. great little hotel
great location and good value - the best shower i have ever used!!! only 2 issues with the hotel - no kettle in the room and the beds are very uncomfortable. however it is spotlessly clean, the staff are beyond amazing and helpful. showers are the best you will ever have (i promise!) and it is great value.

A nice hotel at an excellent price
This hotel is a short walk away from the train station. It is located in the middle of the city, not far from the university. It has a friendly, English-speaking staff and a wonderful full German breakfast. Shops and restaurants are close by. The room was small but clean and just what I needed at a good price. An excellent bargain - would definitely stay again.
