A beautiful castle just off the road to Hamburg.
Service wise, almost great. Only real let down was the exceedingly expensive breakfast that was really not worth the €30 that for 3 people almost felt like extortion.
Some cold fish, a few cheeses and some tired looking charcuteries.
Pancakes were fine as was the scrambled egg and bacon.
But an extra €12.50 for Eggs Benedict, come on, that really is taking the biscuit!
Also, had never heard of Rooibos tea, wich really was surprising for a place that clearly try to pass themselves off as top end. The blonde breakfast hostess was not great at speaking and understanding English, and the Basil Fawlty fake smile did not make up for that.
Room was comfy, nice greeting card upon arrival and also macaroons and chocolate.
But again, breakfast left an aftertaste, both price wise and for its lack of choice and flavour.
Absolutely superb hotel. From the moment we stepped in, to dinner with a number of guests and breakfast, nothing was too much for the always smiling staff. A group of us stayed here for Medica rather than pay over the odds for a mediocre hotel in Düsseldorf. Highly recommend and we’re made to feel special.

Perfekt!
The hotel is amazing. We stayed in the Ustinov suite and were very pleased. The restaurant is first class . The hotel is pet friendly!! The staff need a shout-out here cause they are beyond great!!

Pretty building but a little tired.
Stayed for business. Quite tired rooms with very old tv’s but a beautiful setting.
It is such an extraordinary place that I stay here even when my business is in Cologne over an hour by train. The human “battery recharge” is absolutely fantastic, 19th century charm, grace, service and warmth keep me coming back!
The restaurant delivers consistent contemporary classic German cuisine with a light touch.... not easy with blutwurst but they do it!
Gerne wieder !
Pricey but exceptionally comfortable, excellent food and terrific service. Things I would improve relate to incorporating breakfast into the regular room bill; making bicycles available free of charge for those interested; and reducing the cost of hotel-provided services to the airport. That said it was a terrific place to stay as a way to wind down after an intensive week...
