We welcome you to the entire cottage and park like yard on jay cooke rd. We are located in a rural area of Esko, MN. We are right outside official state markers of Jay cooke state park coming from our road,Jay cooke.

Great place to celebrate the holidays with a fresh cut tree to enjoy the season.

Down the road you will find yourself in Jay cooke state park with the superior hiking trail (SHT) and the munger trail boasting several miles of rugged hiking paths, smooth blacktop paths and easy access to COGGS trails

The quiet neighborhood will help you enjoy star filled nights by the fire pit.

We have six camp and outdoor chairs, with outdoor and patio furniture including a hammock. This is your escape from the cities hustle and bustle but close enough to duluth,mn and superior, wi. OR a great base for north snd south shore activities or duluth and outdoor for your stay.

Jay Cooke Cottage invites all outdoor enthusiasts to partake in miles of mountain biking, biking, rollerblading, birding, hiking, nature trails, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, disc golf, horse trails, fishing, snowboarding, downhill skiing, rock hounding, kayaking, paddle boarding, great photography and much more.

Our kitchen is supplied with any utensil you would need to cook a meal for your whole family or group.

We have a coffee pot that brews by the pot or uses k-pods. If you wish to cook outside we have a charcoal grill and freestanding grill for over the fire pit.

The cottage was freshly redone in 2024 including local nature art, Himalayan salt lamps, secondary lighting, essential oil diffusers and a zen nature vibe.

Our cottage does NOT have any cameras for your privacy.

We had a wonderful time exploring the area and didn't realize how beautiful it was. We loved the swing bridge area. We spent a lot of time doing crafts, while the guys went fishing and golfing. It was a very relaxing four days.

Exactly What We Needed

We loved staying in this very clean and quiet cottage. The beds are comfortable, the living area is spacious as is the bathroom,. It's a great location! Jay Cook park offers many trails. We spent time in Duluth and Two Harbors, too. Both are easy drives from the cottage.

Weekend getaway

We went up north for the weekend & couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay! We did so much exploring in the area, especially loved how close jay Cooke state park was & munger trail. Food/shops were nearby as well which was nice. Loved how cute & cozy this cottage in the woods was!

Amazingly accommodating

The hosts were amazingly accommodating! Our trip was delayed due to weather and they were able to extend our stay and help us out greatly. The property was very private and comfortable and nice for our dogs. It was incredibly clean and we would recommend staying there to anyone. We look forward to staying again in the future!

I had some issues with being new to VRBO but they were helpful through it.The house is right down the road from Jay Cooke Park and it’s SO cute.

Great base for our weekend!

We had a great stay at this property! Well appointed little cabin and we were able to sleep 6 in the space. Plenty of room outside to stretch out as well. Hosts were super about communication and sharing tips, as we hadn’t previously been in this area. Would definitely seek out this rental again!

Great cabin close to Duluth

This cabin was the perfect place to be out in the woods and have privacy but still close enough to drive to Black Bear casino or up to Duluth or Two Harbors for the day. Everything was very clean, well-kept, and Mike and Andrea were very helpful and did a great job communicating with us so we knew what to expect. We hope to come back again!

Pre-Semester Get Away

I wanted a nice little place to stay and unwind before classes started for the semester. I found this cute little listing and became incredibly excited! I really enjoyed the place and the area! Its a nice little spot if you’re looking to relax, read, watch movies, and nap! I look forward to staying here again in the future!

Cozy, clean and close to everything we needed!

I loved this home and it was perfect for myself and my two small dogs. They loved the yard and I appreciated the clean, cozy home with modern decor and everything we needed. It’s close to the highway to Duluth or Cloquet, yet tucked away on a private lot near the state park and beautiful trails!

Great getaway

What a wonderful place to stay place was neat and clean and the property’s host was just awesome had everything we needed and had a lot of zen which we love stayed here over the forth of July weekend and went out exploring Jay Cook state park during the day nice comfortable place to come back to to cook on the grill have a bonfire and just relax would recommend this to anyone that wants a great getaway close to a lot of attractions in the area will be back hear for sure

Easy to get to, feels remote!

We had a great time in this cozy cabin! It rained when we may have been outside so we didn’t get to use the fire pit but it was nice to have a comfy place inside to cook and recover after a long day of hiking and exploring. We knew it was close to Jay Cooke but it’s ridiculously close! Super convenient without the hassle of staying in the park. Owners were super responsive throughout as well! Highly recommend.

Peaceful comfy retreat

Adoreable little place, with everything needed for comfort. We had some fires and they did have some fire starters, wood and chairs for us.they had some essential oils and cute diffuser, an air cleaner and fans in each room. Very close to jay Cooke state park, quiet and peaceful.
