10/10 Excellent
"Great room with a balcony and beautiful view of the mountains. Wonderful restaurant choices. Huge spread for breakfast. The pool sauna and hot tubs were perfect after a day of hiking the beautiful mountains surrounding this destination. Parking is however extremely limited we had to pay for parking as there wasnt enough room in their lot"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Eselniţa?
The best area to stay in Eselniţa is along the banks of the Danube River, particularly in the vicinity of the main road that runs through the village.

This area is the heart of Eselniţa, offering direct access to the Danube and stunning views of the surrounding Iron Gates gorge. Most accommodation options, from guesthouses to small hotels, are situated here, often with private pontoons or terraces overlooking the water. The main road, DJ572, connects these properties and provides easy access to nearby attractions.

Couples looking for a romantic escape will find this area particularly appealing. The tranquil setting, combined with the spectacular river views and opportunities for boat trips directly from their accommodation, creates a memorable experience. Many places offer intimate dining experiences with local cuisine by the water.

For those interested in exploring the natural beauty of the Iron Gates, staying by the Danube is also ideal. Many guesthouses can arrange boat tours to landmarks like Decebalus' Head and the Veterani Cave, departing just steps from your door.
When is the best time to go to Eselniţa?
The best time to go to Eselniţa is between May and September when the weather is warm and pleasant, superb for outdoor activities along the Danube River.

During these months, the average temperatures range from 20°C to 30°C, making it ideal for boat trips on the Danube to see landmarks like Decebalus Rex's rock sculpture and the Mraconia Monastery. The longer daylight hours also allow for more time to explore the natural beauty of the Iron Gates Natural Park, such as the various caves and hiking trails.

Couples looking for a relaxing getaway will appreciate the serene atmosphere and the opportunity to enjoy waterfront dining with sunset views. The warm evenings are superb for a stroll along the riverbanks or enjoying a glass of local wine on a terrace.

For families, the summer months offer plenty of opportunities for activities. Children can enjoy boat rides, gentle hikes suitable for all ages, and exploring the local flora and fauna.
