Great location - close to the town and mountain. The place was so cute and spacious. We were a little worried about the well water smell from a few reviews, but it had no smell and still really hot after 8 showers!
This property was perfect for our group who wanted to spend a lot of time outside playing yard games. The lawn was large and having the mountains as a backdrop was really cool. Fire pit area was nice and the table inside was large enough for our group of 10 which was a huge plus. Pretty close to downtown as well.
Our group had a wonderful stay in Ellicottville! House is close to Holiday Valley and great restaurants in town. Fully stocked with anything you’d need during your stay - great touches like coffee, garbage bags, paper towels, spices for cooking, plenty of towels/toilet paper, YouTube TV log in, really comfortable beds and soft sheets! We would definitely stay again - thank you for having us!
We've stayed in several properties in Ellicottville. This rental was great for our small family of 4, plenty of space and more. Check in/out was super easy, nice clean property, kitchen/family room space was perfect for lounging/tv/playing games/meals, and a short drive to town. Weather wasn't great, but it was nice to have outdoor space available. Definitely would have had a fire with smores if it wasn't raining.
The house was a perfect size for our group. It was cozy and provided all the necessary accommodations. The owners were easy to get a hold of if needed and the house was clean upon arrival. The view out of the back side of the house is beautiful!
My family (6 adults, 1 toddler) booked Maples Retreat for 3 nights. Perfect location, beautiful views, and wonderful interior space. Within 2 hours of arrival, a large wind storm caused a power outage. We went to town and purchased plenty of candles and firewood with optimism that the power would return. The following day the power outage continued and we were relocated to another one of Rob's properties. Right from the beginning of the outage, Rob was communicative with us and offered us the relocation which was incredibly kind. Both properties were exceptional and we were appreciative of the hospitality provided.
The overall experience was great and lodging is well cared for. Within a 5 minute drive to all the attractions of Ellicotville. This would be a 5 star review except that the listing did not mention an adjoining apartment.
Cozy, cute and charming place to stay, less than 5 miles into town. It was a perfect spot for us and plenty of space for myself, and my daughters who brought two friends. We had our windows open at night and lawn crew woke us at 630 am to mow and trim, which wasn’t great- but it didn’t ruin our nice time.
We had a great experience and wonderful communication with the owners. We had to make a change to our reservation and Rob was extremely accommodating. This property is convenient to downtown and the slopes with a short drive.
We arrived to a clean and well maintained property. House was spacious with a nice floor plan which made it easy to relax and socialize. Our party consisted of 2 families with small children and there was plenty of room for us all! The kitchen had lots of extra things for cooking which came in handy as we ate in 2/3 nights. The property outside allowed for the kids to blow off some steam. Overall we had a great time and would recommend! Thanks for hosting us!!
My family and another stayed together for 5 days on a ski trip. Ideally we would have stayed in town so we could walk to shops and restaurants but we booked late and those options were either already booked or far too expensive. This was a great more affordable option. The space was cozy but our 2 families (4 adults, 5 kids) had plenty of room to sleep and eat. The basement gets rented out as a separate unit so you don’t have access to the entire house which was fine for us as we didn’t spend much time there during the day. Some other things to know is that there is no dishwasher which again was fine for us as we ate most of our meals out and were happy to wash our breakfast dishes by hand. There is a washer and dryer available but they are both very small which is fine for small groups but not ideal for larger groups like mine. (Especially since it rained a bunch on our ski trip and all of us were soaked) The last thing that is important to know before going is that you shouldn’t drink the tap water and there is no water cooler/drinking water available. We’re use to staying at cottages and chalets in the country and on septics but usually there is a water cooler for drinking water. (Maybe that’s just a Canadian thing?) We were asked to bring our own water here. Overall we’re very happy with our stay, the beds and furniture were comfy, and it was a short drive to everywhere we wanted to go.
We chose this property when some other plans fell through. The place is very nice and good amenities. The views from the windows out the valley were very nice. The property was closer to the road than I envisioned but not a deal breaker. The owners were very communicative and accommodating.
Better house for a group of guys than a family. Place was not clean, in addition to the issues below:
1- Too cold downstairs. Yes it was freezing temps outside. Same as my house where I don’t have any issues heating to a reasonable temp. Have stayed at other homes in Ellicotville during ski season without heat issues.
2 - I’m not sure of the pet policy or possible issues with dust, etc, but my daughter was miserable with allergies. Barely slept both nights.
3 - General uncleanliness + dart board not working, downstairs bathroom no lock on the door…just subpar, frankly.
Was a disappointing stay. We left one night early and will not be back.
The property is so beautiful, cozy, clean and feels like home! The owner was beyond accommodating, quick to respond and made our stay easy and stress free! I highly recommend staying here, I plan to do so in the future! The property is just minutes away from skiing/tubing and cute shops/restaurants, which is perfect for any getaway!

Maples Retreat
Let me first state that this property is as adorable as it appears in the pictures as far as the decor...super cute and updated as stated. It's convenient to be able to place your skis and boots inside the front entry way so as you can keep the rest of the house clutter free. The owners are very quick and responsive in their communication and leave all sorts of nice touches in the kitchen like foil, Saran Wrap, spices and even coffee/filters.
The only obvious thing I missed but- my bad bc I didn't realize it in the spec outline of the house- is that there is no dishwasher. Not a problem tho...plenty of dish soap on hand. The upstairs master bath ran slow and didn't drain easily but the owners were made aware and I'm sure that will get fixed.
The reason this received a 2 star rating and not a 5 star is because there was dog smell and dog hair all over the house which I easily noticed upon entering. All along floors, baseboards, couch and even one of the beds in the room with two queen beds. I spent quite a bit of time vacuuming it up the best I could with a handheld but things got a bit easier once I located a larger vacuum in a closet. When I inquired with the owners they explained the previous renter brought a dog at the last minute and they had expected the cleaners to clean thoroughly. After I hinted that they should repay my cleaning fee they quickly did. My point in writing this is because I feel it is only responsible for house owners who say No Pets in the rental agreement to uphold their end of the deal. I seek out only non-pet rental places bc I have a child with a pet allergy. I was really disappointed to have to enter our vacation rental and find dog hair all around. It's not right. They should have said NO to the renters who had a dog. Period.
It was a perfect stay. The area was beautiful. It was a lot of house for the price. The bed and furniture were very comfortable. We would definitely go back!
