With new COVID-19 safety measures to adhere to, travel looks a lot different at present. Here's what you need to know before you get on that plane to Ellesmere Island:

• Investigate the restrictions and rules in both your origin and destination. It may not be possible to travel depending on local circumstances, so remember to check before you book your flight.
• When you go through airport screening, keep your face mask on. You will be required to lower it briefly for identification purposes. Travellers who refuse to wear a face mask may be denied entry or boarding.
• To decrease the risk of cross-contamination, place your boarding pass on the reader yourself and then hold it up for inspection. Do not hand your boarding pass directly to a TSA agent.
• One liquid hand sanitizer container is now permitted in your carry-on bag. It must be no larger than 12 oz (350 ml), and you'll need to remove it from your bag at the X-ray machine for screening.
• Empty everything from your pockets, like your phone and wallet, and put them in your carry-on instead of the bins. This will reduce handling during screening.
• If you're bringing food on the plane with you, place it in a clear plastic bag and then into a scanning bin. This reduces the likelihood that a TSA employee will need to handle your carry-on bag or food container for inspection.
