The Richardson Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"The Richardson is a unique hotel as it is one of HH Richardsons architectural masterpieces that was fortunately saved from the wrecking ball and is gradually being restored for various uses, the Hotel being the first of those. It is luxury priced but you are really paying to live in a piece of history. The breakfast is a simple continental, and the restaurant that used to be in the building is closed, but plenty of dining & shopping options are steps away in Elmwood. The decor with all of the historical photos plus the architectural museum on the lower level is excellent. A place you need to stay in at least once. We normally stay at my cousin’s but since we weren’t able to on this trip, we chose the Richardson."
"This is a beautiful old house. Every part of it has beautiful woodwork and moldings. The house is very clean, the beds are comfortable, and the kitchen has everything you need. This house is very well updated. Would have stayed longer if we could, and would not hesitate to come back or recommend it to others. We went to the Frank Lloyd Wright museum, which is close. Also saw a Buffalo Bills night game. That worked very well, especially if you park on the south end in private lots near Abbott. After the game, Go south, then west to Hwy 5.Made it back to house in 30 minutes. Unbelievable. Go Bills Go!Also, to avoid traffic going to game, ate at Yankee BBQ, in Hamburg. Small place, nothing fancy, fabulous smoker food. With a little planning, this house is an easy spot to go anywhere. "
