Recent Reviews in El Torno

Parador de Plasencia

8/10 Good

"Set in a fabulous historic building this parador is huge. Very good bar and restaurant. Plenty of vegetarian and vegan options for those interested. The staff were very helpful. Our room was massive. Had old people’s home vibes! Could do with updating, especially the bathroom, but the place is so enormous it would cost a fortune. Very nice looking pool, though not in use. Excellent location for exploring the historic part of the town. Overall excellent."

Hospedium Hotel Doña Mafalda de Castilla

8/10 Good

"We stayed for two nights travelling to our destination and two nights a fortnight later on the way back. On both occasion there was no evening meals available due to closure of resturant. This was a bind as it meant driving into town, then walking around looking for somewhere to eat, most places being shut on Mondays and Tuesdays. Apart from that the hotel was a good stop off for a couple of nights."

Casa Rural el Rincón de Monfragüe

10/10 Excellent

"The hotel and hotel staff were excellent. The breakfast is outstanding! Our only issue was with Hotels.com who sent us several messages from the hotel highlighting trips and visits we could take. The did not pass on requests from the hotel to confirm our arrival time. As they did not have our telephone number, they could not contact us directly so this took a while to resolve."

Hotel Azar

8/10 Good

"We chose this hotel because of the onsite parking. It’s on the outskirts of the city and cost about 9€ in a taxi to get to the centre. It looks like a basic motel from the outside but the inside is lovely, nicely furnished. It’s clean, comfortable and the bathroom was modern. We enjoyed the breakfast, plenty of choice. The staff on reception were welcoming and helpful"

Balneario Valle del Jerte

10/10 Excellent

"I stayed for business trip and the staff were very welcoming and helpful to me from when I arrived. My Spanish is not great but were always helpful to try and help or accommodate me. Breakfast was good and the evening buffet meals had variety of choice. Many of the guests clearly visit for the pool and spa facilities, as well as hiking trials and cycling routes in the area. I did not have time for this but had an enjoyable stay and would return due to the practical location and friendly staff."

This compact village is located in the Jerte Valley, offering stunning panoramic views of the valley and the Sierra de Gredos mountains. The central square is a focal point, often bustling with local life, and from here, narrow streets lined with traditional stone houses wind up and down the hillside. You'll find a few local shops and eateries here, making it convenient for daily needs.

For couples seeking a tranquil escape with beautiful scenery, staying right in El Torno is ideal. The village provides a peaceful base for exploring the cherry orchards and hiking trails that crisscross the valley. You're perfectly positioned to enjoy the quiet evenings and the fresh mountain air, often with a glass of local wine on a terrace overlooking the valley.

This is an excellent time for outdoor activities such as hiking in the Jerte Valley or exploring the cherry blossoms, which usually bloom in late March or early April and are a major attraction.

Autumn also provides comfortable temperatures, generally between 18°C and 28°C, and the scenery is beautiful with changing leaf colours. It's a great time for enjoying the local gastronomy, including mushroom foraging and the harvesting of olives and chestnuts, which are significant to the region's culinary traditions.
