Heaven

This was our family's 4th stay at Bahia Pez Vela. We just can't get enough! It is truly a little piece of heaven. The location of this unit is wonderful. The access to the ocean, in conjunction with the private pool, is really perfect. The kitchen is well stocked, and we really enjoyed cooking there. Our 4 teenage girls had the time of their lives. I wanted to squeeze in some excursions, but my family was so content they never wanted to leave the property. We can't wait to come back again and again.

Fantastic Location, Perfect Place for a Family

This place was fantastic for a family with school age kids! It was well-equipped with all supplies, comfortable with furniture and very effective air conditioning, and had a pool that exceeded expectations. The location, with the ability to walk right out the backyard to the beach, was unbeatable. The resort location is not too far from the airport but feels remote; the restaurant is delicious with wonderful service. We had such a great time that we will certainly return!

Paradise

We loved our stay and can’t wait to bring everyone back next year! You don’t even have to leave the condo if you don’t want to. The resort restaurant was nice when we didn’t feel like cooking or going out. The rooms were well kept along with the kitchen. The view can’t be captured perfectly in a picture. You must see it to believe it. The pool was amazing and the beach was perfect. We traveled with our 4 parents who are 65 and our toddler. We could go from the pool to the beach and back. We did adventure out for a hike, tubing, and Diamante adventure park to see some animals. We also were picked up from our beach for a catamaran sunset tour! I highly suggest staying here over an all-inclusive resort. We can’t wait to come back!

Breathtaking and Relaxing

VILLA #4 and the entire resort was absolutely spectacular. Well-appointed and comfortable. And the private pool overlooking the Pacific Ocean is something you dream about. This was our first trip to Costa Rica and it won't be the last.

An amazing experience!

Villa 4 at Bahia Pez Vela was such a gem! The house and amenities were perfect and just as described. The private pool is bigger than I imagined and so perfect after having been at the beach all day. The jets were a game changer! The kitchen is huge with everything you could need and the washer/dryer came in handy as well. Once booked, LaRaye sent very detailed notes regarding the property and extremely useful tips and recommendations. Caesar at the property was very accommodating and helpful with booking transfers and activities. Second time coming to Costa Rica and I will definitely be back to this villa! LOVED it!

Paradise

The house is everything promised to be. As part of a resort there is easy access to amenities such as a top notch restaurant and bar. The staff arranged for us to go kayaking along the coast which added to the glory of the beach, sun, ocean and pools. The location is both remote yet close enough to stores and restaurants. Highly recommended! Our host was very attentive to our needs. Finally villa 4 has its own small pool which is a bonus and it’s is right on the beach and n ar bar/restaurant. View and ocean sounds spectacular.

Who would not want to stay here!

Has everyhing to make your stay stress free and very enjoyable The management crew Cesar and Jacky made it so you would want to stay much much longer. The restaurant staff and the food were beyond great. Compliments to the Head Chef, you picked the right staff and your food was terrific and varied during the week both at lunch and dinner. The presentation along with being properly prepared just shows You really care!! The owner left no stone unturned, beautiful home and grounds. Felt safe and unbelievable view. Villa #4 on oceanfront with pool-- Thank you LaRaye.

Beautiful place

Beautiful and perfect for kids. So nice to have so many conveniences right at our finger tips. The kids loved the pool and my husband and I loved the privacy of the pool. We never even used the resort pool. The beach was calm--perfect for our 7 year old. There was a sugar ant problem, which I understand is just what happens at the beach. It was a bit of a nuisance, but we just kept all of our food in ziplock bags. Otherwise, we loved every minute. The evening sunset/snorkel sailing tour was gorgeous--we booked this through the resort staff. We also did a fun kayaking/snorkeling tour through the resort which was really fun. I would definitely recommend this villa.

Everything was perfect!

We were excited to spend a week at this resort but found out that the photos just don't do justice to this exotic and beautiful villa. Everything from the infinity pool to the chef's kitchen is over the top splendid. The beach and tide pools are perfect for walking but honestly it was difficult to leave the villa for anything. The daily line up of colorful birds visiting the pool for a drink or a bath, or the howler monkeys eating leaves in the trees out front meant we could just sit outside and let the wildlife come to us. We used Cesar at the resort office to book several side trips including fishing; this could not have been easier since the boat picks you up right from the beach. They cleaned our catch and we grilled it that night! Nothing needs to be improved here. The resort is lushly landscaped. The food at Mayacama is fabulous. We got to know all the staff very well and took Angela's Myxology class. She infuses her own liquor and gave us multiple recipes and tips for her newest cocktail creations. Playa Del Coco is interesting for its laid-back style and easy going citizens. It has a fabulous grocery store equalling any in the states so we cooked our own meals often. The pineapple in this part of the world is the best!! We highly recommend this villa and this resort as well as northern Costa Rico in general . Lorraine's extensive manual which we got before we arrived is so complete we had no questions once we moved in. We started the enjoyment as soon as we unpacked. We will be back for sure.

Beautiful Spot. Beautiful People.

LaRayes villa is the best location. Steps from the beach and a private pool. The corner location is very private but close to the dining area and main pools. The restaurant on location is very good. The staff is beyond sweet. The people of Costa Rica treat you like you are family. Cesar in the office is very helpful with car rental, tours and local attractions. Get a 4x4. LaRaye who owns the villa is so wonderful. She’s quick to answer any questions and was very helpful. Must Dos: Local Rum Centenario 20 year. A local liquor Guaro. Lizano Salsa Sauce...it’s so great we caught ourselves eating it on everything. The Bolson River Tour ...ask for Randall. It’s a must see. It includes an authentic Costa Rican lunch and Randall stopped at a local pottery place. Willies pottery goes back 7 generations. It was one of our favorite days. Tamarindo...the beach and town are a lot of fun. Eat a “typical plate”. This is what they call the local fare .Jardin Tropical is a great local spot in Coco. We ate there twice. The owner is wonderful. Take Colons (local money). The Colons are handy at the local spots and fruit stands. Eat Pineapple, Mango, Passion Fruit, ceviche and local fish. Everything is so fresh and delicious. The villa ia minutes from Playa Coco. The roads are very easy to navigate. Stay off what they call The Monkey Trail also known as Rt. 911. It’s very rough and difficult. Other than the Monkey Trail the roads are great. Pay attention to the GPS and use your map. The GPS likes the Monkey Trail. We explored the areas around us and really loved getting to see the other beaches and meeting the locals. The villa is truly one of the best places to stay in the area. The villa was roomy and well decorated with a nice stocked kitchen. After seeing other parts of the area we felt so blessed to be in our villa. It truly is the best place to stay in Coco.

Aug 2018 - Awesome week at Bahia Pez Vela!!!!

We just returned from our first family vacation to Costa Rica. LaRaye was the perfect host and our rental went off without a hitch. She was attentive to all of our questions and the booking process was hassle free and done all on-line. We began our 12 day vacation at LaRaye's beach front house for the first week. The drive from the airport to the house was less than an hour. Driving in Costa Rica was certainly an adventurous experience. I highly recommend renting a vehicle with 4WD or higher ground clearance due to the varied road conditions as well as the ever present speed bumps in towns. The 4WD allowed us to take some of the unpaved roads and explore the off the beaten path locations. The house was perfect and presented itself as depicted in the photos. The house was spotless and stocked with all the necessities as described. The resort area was very safe and quiet. The resort staff/security were friendly and always around but never intrusive. Cesar at reception was very knowledgable and helpful in answering questions and taking care of our needs. Our meals/drinks at the Maracuya restaurant were also excellent. I can highly recommend the Maracuya signature cocktail (yummy!!). We had a week of nothing but sunshine and minimal rain (rained once during the night) and really got the chance to unplug and unwind during our week. We rented kayaks and a paddle board from Cesar (restaurant waiter) for the week for a song. With us visiting during the "green season", the resort was completely uncrowded. We had the beach to ourselves most of the time. Area local families would come to the resort on weekends but in very few numbers. The only issue we had was some renovation work that was ongoing during the week at a neighboring villa to ours. The construction noise was a little loud at times but the workers made every effort to keep their noise to a minimum. The local marpache (raccoons) visited us every night around 6 pm around the pool. They were our evening entertainment and completely harmless. The howler monkeys also visited the trees in front of the villa one morning as well. What a treat!! The kids enjoyed collecting hermit crabs and shells plus snorkeling. The views, the sunsets, the pool, the beach, the flora, the wildlife, everything was more than we had ever expected at Bahia Pez Vela. Costa Rica is truly a beautiful place that we look forward to visiting again and would recommend LaRaye's villa to anyone with a spirit of adventure. Pura Vida!!

Almost perfect

Property was super clean and was filled with everything needed for a great stay. Best stocked kitchen we have experienced so far. Only complaint I can make is the development doesn't respect the privacy of the unit. First they allowed the local beach users to set up for the day on the grass area between the pool and beach. Secondly the maintenace department decided to use that area for two days to replace beach chair cover replacements even after I requested they move to a different location. Apparently they preferred the shade and beach view that I believe was meant for the unit.

Great Stay

Beautiful property. Well equipped. Communication with LaRaye the owner was fantastic. The instruction sheet was incredibly comprehensive and helpful - everything needed for the property but also lots of great recommendations for restaurants, activities, getting through the airport, where to buy groceries and alcohol, etc.

First class accommodations

This property is first class. It’s even better than the listing indicates. It’s situated within the resort so that it only has one neighbor to the right and wilderness to the left. Only spot in the whole complex with a private pool. Walk to the beach barely qualifies as a walk, it’s more like a step-out. Clean, comfortable, and has everything in it to make it your home for a while. It’s not for budget travelers, that’s for sure. The restaurant there is pretty pricey but delicious. We cooked a lot. But if you want the best spot, it’s worth the money. We saw monkeys, iguanas, and wild birds. 10 out of 10 would recommend

Excellent Beach Location

We have been traveling to Costa Rica many times but this was our first stay at this villa. It's a little out of the way from Playa de Coco which is why we chose it. It was part of a property that had 40 villas up the hillside with this one being right on the beach. The villa was wonderful and just as pictured and described. The host was very responsive and helped us get the grill going the first day. The kitchen is very nicely stocked and we cooked out every night, they even had a spice rack which was a present surprise and helpful. The on-property restaurant is high quality and we ate there the first night. Having a private pool was perfect with lots of local wildlife to watch and enjoy. We were only steps from the beach and took advantage of swimming in the ocean and using some of the provided toys. All in all, a perfect week's stay.

Our stay at Villa Las Olas was nothing short of perfect. The villa is very well appointed with everything we needed for our stay, and the setting is absolutely stunning. Amazing as always!

This is our second stay in LaRaye's beautiful home, and each time is such a blessing. The property is beautiful, and everyone that works in the resort is so friendly. LaRaye is a joy to communicate with, she is efficient and kind. We love having the pool at the house and watching the numerous birds come drink from it. Nice and close to the beach and restaurant. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting the beautiful country of Costa Rica!

Paradise!

We loved everything about this place. Not only was it situated in the middle of paradise (literally), but it was also on the perfect lot at the end of the street, the pool was luxurious, and the inside was clean, well-equipped, and very very comfortable. We wanted for nothing because it was well stocked. The only thing we missed was a pizza cutter! But the knives worked great. Awesome place - we really do hope to be back again someday very soon. It was paradise!
