I stayed in a ground floor room next to the restaurant. Like a great b&b it was quirky but really worked.

I can't speak to the quality of this property because we did not actually get to stay there! I reserved a room here months before arriving, however when we arrived we were told that they had double booked and that there wasn't a room for us. Apparently the internet is very slow in Chalten and this happens often with online bookings. The woman working the desk profusely apologized and told us that she had booked us a room at a different hotel and offered to drive us there. At first I was skeptical, but she assured me that the other property would be just as nice if not nicer and that we would pay the exact same price. So we were taken over there (the location of the other hotel - Kospi - was much further from the bus station and town center) and checked in there with her help. The room there was fine, probably similar to what we would have gotten at Guanaca and everything turned out ok. I did not like that I did not get any advanced notice of this mix up (no prior emails, messages, etc...), so it felt very stressful and hectic to have this happen upon arrival. However, the people at La Guanaca handled it well and even offered to pick us up from the other hotel to drive us to the bus station because it was so far away. At the end of the day, everything turned out fine. So I wouldn't be able to recommend this property, given how we were treated, I would guess that they are really great to their guests.
