Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in El Almendro?
The best area to stay in El Almendro is the village centre, particularly around the Plaza de España.

This main square is the heart of El Almendro, surrounded by traditional Andalusian architecture, including the impressive Nuestra Señora de la Consolación Church. The streets radiating from the plaza, such as Calle Real and Calle Alta, are where you'll find the village's amenities, including local shops, bakeries, and traditional tapas bars. It's a compact and walkable area, great for exploring on foot.

Couples looking for a quiet, authentic Spanish experience will find the village centre ideal. You can enjoy strolls through the historic streets, savour leisurely meals at local eateries, and experience the relaxed pace of village life. The proximity to the church and the main square means you're at the hub of any local festivities or events.

For those who appreciate a peaceful setting with convenient access to nature, staying slightly on the outskirts but still within a 5-10 minute walk of the Plaza de España is a good option. These areas offer a bit more space and often provide lovely views of the surrounding countryside, while still keeping you connected to the village's amenities.
When is the best time to go to El Almendro?
The best time to visit El Almendro is during the spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October) months, when the weather is pleasantly warm and ideal for outdoor activities.

During spring, the countryside around El Almendro comes alive with wildflowers, and the temperatures are comfortable, typically ranging from 18°C to 25°C. This period is particularly good for couples or solo travellers who enjoy walking, cycling, or exploring the natural parks nearby, such as the Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche Natural Park. The milder weather makes it great for enjoying the local gastronomy al fresco.

Autumn offers similar comfortable temperatures, usually between 20°C and 28°C, and the landscape takes on a beautiful golden hue. This season is excellent for those interested in cultural experiences and local festivals, as the harvest season often brings community events.
