"If I could rate it a million stars, I would! This is the perfect, peaceful quiet Portuguese experience. We stayed here because it was close to the wedding venue we were attending. "The hotel is in a prime position on the river Bank and has an older style. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Our twin room had a fabulous river view and was a good size with comfy beds and quality amenities. Breakfast was varied and tasty and served in the panoramic restaurant on the 3rd floor. It was served from 7am to 11am so it was great as we could take our time and enjoy the views. Highly recommended."

"Very helpful staff. The air conditioning was not working during a hot period and I received a message warning me and asking me if I wanted a refund but I kept the booking. When I arrived at the hotel the staff were very helpful and offered me a fan and complimentary bottle of cold water. For the price I paid it was far more than I expected. Sometimes it’s just a little customer service which makes a problem much easier to accept! In the end sleeping with window open was completely adequate- I was in Portugal and expecting hot weather."

The views from the property are simply stunning, and the staff went above and beyond to make our stay special — personalized touches throughout made it feel like far more than just a hotel stay. The chef's dinner was a true highlight, and the wine tasting experience was expertly guided. The only reason this isn't a full five stars is the more rural location means a bit more travel time to reach — but that's also part of what makes the Douro so peaceful and worth visiting. A beautiful, memorable stay we'd happily repeat."

"A beautiful place high above the Douro river. Exceptionally helpful staff. The Spa are is included in the room price plus there is an outdoor pool area with a bar which was closed when we visited in Oct. The hotel offers a collection of activities from guided walks, boat trips live music and a variety of wine and port tastings. The restaurant offers a variety of dishes including a wine pairing menu, everything was tasty and well presented. Breakfast was a buffet and included everything you would want however they aren’t geared up for tea drinkers lol. The only small negative is that the room wasn’t cleared of dirty cups or glasses but beds were made and towels changed. If you want to swim inside you must wear a swim cap which are available to buy."
