"The property was nicely modernized and decorated. Beds and linens were clean and comfortable, wonderful housekeeping services and very attentive. Don't look too closely as paint and hallways were dated and definitely signs of wear and tear - but for the price point, it was everything we needed and the staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant and bar are separately managed from the hotel, just as a FYI, but good food, drinks and service, Easy access to Riverwalk and all the areas we wanted to get to; would recommend to those on a budget and who appreciate a quieter area for sure."

"No bible in the dresser. Not a good variety of breakfast. Charged me parking even though I am Handicapped. "

"We had dirty sheets, floors were disgusting in hallways gross. Probably the dirtiest I’ve seen any building. Elevators slow and took forever and would close on you as you entered. Plus was close to everything and they let you check in early. The bed was made but made with dirty bloody sheets. Towels were hard as a rock - just couldn’t believe the overall care of the place."

"Staff was super friendly and very professional. We were given a larger room with a private balcony after the person at the front desk learned we were there to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Room had a refrigerator but no Microwave, so something to keep in mind when bringing leftovers to the room for later."

"This is an older and more historic hotel. The rooms are small and dated but it definitely gives you a feel for what was rather than what is. It’s definitely not for everyone but for those looking for an older more historic vibe, this is it!"

"We were disappointed in the front desk staff and the valet staff. After our first night (at 9:00 am) we asked for fresh towels (spilled coffee) and another roll of toilet paper (only provided 1 and we were already out). They said it would be brought to us shortly. We left and came back about 2:00 pm. No towels...no toilet paper. Called front desk and they brought it. Later that day we were trying to rest in our room but they started sawing with a very loud saw next door to us. I know sometimes maintenance must be done but I guess it was just poor timing. When we were checking out I requested my car. Even got a message back saying the staff was hurrying to get it. We went outside and sate on the bench and waited. Valet staff never came over to see if we need assistance...they did not say anything to us at all. Finally after 20 minutes my husband walked over and asked about our car...they stated they did not know we needed it even thought we got the automated message that they were already getting it. Mind you it was not busy it was 7:00 am. They brought the car around and we left. We decided then that was our last stay at the Menger."

"Great room - very large and clean. Kitchen had a dishes and tools we could use. Comfortable beds. Great location, 5min walk to Alamo area. Good service by front desk. Onsite parking was fine at $35/daily with in and out privelages, just make sure you don't drive a large pickup bc it is very tight especially driving up to the 2nd and 3rd floors. Breakfast was fine. Same scrambled eggs, sausage hashbrowns, cereal, yogurt coffee, oatmeal options everyday. Only issue is the bathtub and sink were slow to drain, and we were not able to connect to the front desk from our in-room telephone. However pros more than outweighed the cons, and we would prob stay here again for future travel back to San Antonio."
