I stayed at the Riu Hotel in New York during FIFA, and it was a frustrating experience. The hotel was completely overcrowded and bursting at the seams.Because of the massive crowds, the service was very poor. The elevators were always packed, and the staff seemed too overwhelmed to help.

Air-conditioning didnt work, bathroom floor was heated and you couldn't switch it off - both combined on a hot summers day meant we really couldn't sleep well. Asked the staff to look into the air-conditioning and they didnt do anything to help. Additionally we put up a do not disturb sign but still received a knock on the door at 9am for room cleaning. Considering we were only staying 1 night this was neither needed or relevant. Wouldn't stay again
