"Comfortable large double room, clean and fresh smelling. The on-suite was large and well set out. Only negative was a shower that barely sprayed, no pressure and the temperature fluctuated. Bed was very comfortable and the quilt heavy. Food was standard pub fare well cooked and delicious. The staff were were good, welcoming and helpful. Car parking was easy and secure. Will stay again if available."

"Rooms newly refurbished to a smart standard. Dining option felt overpriced for what we got and for what this hotel is really for (night before/ after ferry). Bathrooms could do with extra heating and a heated mirror."

"James at the front desk saw that our bags were delivered to our room while we explored the city. Breakfast was fresh, plentiful and hot. Staff was very thoughtful. Did not see any ghosts, but still had an amazing stay. Rye is very sweet and the Mermaid Inn is very special. "

"Restaurant was closed but we were assured a full menu would be served in the renovated bar. Only fish and chips, hamburgers, curry, no beer (only Peroni!!) and the bar was empty and soulless. Not how we imagined our celebration with friends would be We complained but the General Manager was only contactable by email. He still has not replied. The hotel is not nearly as grand and welcoming as advertised. There are better places to stay in Canterbury."

"Amazing as always, I’m here 2/3 times a week for work at last minute. Only 1 issue is that I’ve asked for an iron twice when checking in but they’ve forgotten it. Probably too busy with the bar during the evening which is understandable "
