Cozy Lakefront Cottage on Little Pequaywan ~ Great for all seasons
Beautiful Lake Cabin on Private Smith & Little Pequaywan Lakes Escape to our fully remodeled 2-bedroom, 1-bath lake cabin — a cozy 900+ sq. ft. retreat designed for rest, fun, and connection. Tucked among tall pines on a quiet private lake, it’s the perfect place to unwind, recharge, and enjoy everything the Northwoods has to offer.
Inside the Cabin ~ Step inside and you’ll find a bright, open-concept space with a modern kitchen, island seating, and lake views from every angle. Everything inside is updated — from appliances and furniture to lighting and décor. It’s clean, fresh, and thoughtfully designed for easy living.
The Property ~ Our 4-acre wooded lot gives you space to roam and relax in privacy. Enjoy your morning coffee on the deck, spend the day on the water, and end your evening around the beautiful fire ring areas watching the sun set over the water.
Lake Life ~ We’ve got all the toys! Kayaks, a canoe, 2 paddle boats, 2 paddle boards and other numerous floaties are ready for your use. The beach area has a clean sand-and-gravel bottom — perfect for swimming. Life jackets are provided for toddlers through adults. Want to explore more of the lake? Our 21’ pontoon boat with a 4-stroke motor is available to rent on a limited basis ($250/day or $1,000/week, gas included). Note: Smith and Little Pequaywan are private lakes — outside boats can’t be launched ~ Except for kayaks, canoes and paddle boards.
Fishing Fun ~ Fishing is excellent right from the dock! You’ll find panfish, bass, perch, and northern pike. Walleyes bite best in low light or cloudy weather — try near the submerged islands located on the northern part of the lake. Fishing gear is available free of charge; just let us know what you need.
Great for All Seasons • Summer: Swim, fish, and paddle in crystal-clear water. • Fall: Watch the colors change over the lake and hike nearby trails. • Winter: Snowmobile right from the cabin, ice fish, cross-country ski, ice skate on our skating rink (dependent on ice conditions) or cozy up and relax inside with a good book or movie. • Spring: Enjoy peace and quiet as the ice melts and wildlife returns.
No matter the season, this cabin offers peace, beauty, and adventure.
Dog Friendly We love dogs! Well-behaved pups are welcome with a $150 cleaning fee per dog. We just ask that they not be left alone in the cabin or allowed on the beds or furniture. Dogs must be in an enclosed crate if left unattended in the cabin. Note: Cats and other pets are not allowed.
Stay Connected We have Wi-Fi, internet, and TV. AT&T works best for cell service in our area; other providers may have limited coverage.
Local Touches You’ll find unique, handcrafted furniture and artwork from local artists throughout the cabin — and some pieces are available for purchase if you fall in love with them!

We had an absolutely beautiful stay at this cabin on the lake! We are so thankful for our hosts providing so much for our one-year-olds to play with and accommodations for their stay. We loved dining on the back deck overlooking the lake and having a peaceful, quiet place to relax. We can’t wait to go back and get out on the lake.
We had a fantastic time at this prefect cabin for our family. Cabin is modern with all the amenities you need. Fire pit area was a big hit every night! John and Lori were super nice and accommodating. We plan on visiting again and would highly recommend!
We loved it so much in 2024 that we returned in 2025! This is a great place to unplug, enjoy nature and have a great time with our family. Enjoying s'mores around the fire pit, kayaking and paddle boarding, fishing and taking in beautiful lake are our highlights! Highly recommend!
We had a wonderful stay. The place was extremely organized, clean and had a variety of amenities. The hosts were also exceptional.

Clean, comfortable cabin on a quiet lake. Excellent communication with the hosts, who were welcoming and helpful. Beds are comfortable. I loved kayaking around the lake.
This property was amazing! Part of the reason we booked it, was because of its proximity to other fun activities but we could have spent our entire vacation at the cabin! The kids spent hours swimming, fishing, kayaking and paddle boarding. A great place to make lifelong memories!
Found John & Lori’s lovely updated cabin overlooking a peaceful lake to be super restful and comfortable. Decorated with a nod to the north woods, very clean, with great beds for napping and numerous spots to sit outside and enjoy natures sights.
Absolutely perfect stay! John and Lori were incredibly accommodating to our family during our stay at the cottage. They had an ice rink plowed, bonfire ready to light, and welcome basket in the kitchen. The cottage was so tidy and clean. There were tons of games and toys for our children to enjoy. We loved everything about our stay. It was amazing!
We stayed with 4 grkids. The accommodations were perfect. We loved the remote peacefulness. The kids had great fun fishing, swimming, and paddling right from the dock. We would highly recommend if you want a place away from crowds.
We absolutely loved our stay here! They have thought of every need you may have! John and Lori were very friendly and very hospitable! House was very clean and comfortable. Kids loved all the activities they had to offer! They have activities for all ages.
Wonderful location. Cabin was beautiful and well appointed. Lake was quiet and the fishing was great! Lori was very attentive and provided treats for our dog and a gift basket for our kiddo. Great experience!
Lori & John are beyond amazing hosts! They go above + beyond in all aspects! The cabin was very clean (i have undiagnosed ocd😉), updated & not a detail was forgotten! A perfect getaway any time of the year! A gem of a place with more than gracious hosts! Enjoy!
We enjoyed our relaxing getaway with great amenities for fun for all skills and ages. This was truly a break from the grind. We were able to reset and get ready for back to school. I highly recommend.
It was a great time fishing with my boys. The cabin was like brand new, very clean and well organized, the fire pit up near the cabin was a great place to hang out in the evening and talk about our day fishing and being on the lake. The pontoon boat that the host provided suited our needs perfectly.
John and Lori have a great spot. They had a Happy Birthday banner and gift basket waiting for us along with a couple of cake pops in the freezer. That was very thoughtful. The cabin was very clean and nicely finished.
It really was a great stay. John and Lori were both very responsive.
It was exceptional! The photos are accurate, the quality is high of the structure, fixtures, finishes and furniture. The kitchen is well stocked so you can cook a real meal. : ). The boat (for a fee), the kayaks and paddle boards enabled us to enjoy the water and fishing! The fire pit and yard games were great too! The hosts are wonderful people and we look forward to returning to this cottage on Pequaywan Lake!!
John and Lori were wonderful hosts! They respected our privacy while accommodating all our needs. They are the embodiment of being "Minnesota nice". The location is beautiful and the house was clean and inviting. it is perfectly located to get away and be close enough to so many beautiful locations. We were able to seethe split rock lighthouse, Canal park, The Haunted Ship in Duluth, and so much more! Thank you for the wonderful stay!
The cabin is very modern and slept all of us with ease. The lake view from the yard is gorgeous. Great fishing off the dock. My kids caught fish all throughout the day! We loved trying out the canoe, kayaks, paddle boards and paddle boat. It was really nice to have a fire pit both up by the cabin and again by the dock. We would definitely stay here. Lori and John are excellent hosts!
The house is perfect, just steps away from the lake! Everything was there, kayaks, paddle boats/boards, canoe, life jackets, bikes, you name it! Our kids enjoyed the fire pit and playing ladder golf. It was so much fun.
We went to Duluth and enjoyed a train ride, walking on the beach, and canal park.
John and Lori were very helpful with suggestions on things to do and places to visit. They were so nice and had everything ready for us on arrival, including supplies for smores!
It was a great stay, we would love to go back! Highly recommend!
My family and I had a great time at this little hideaway cabin. The place was well stocked with all the items we needed for a 6 day stay. There were fishing poles and all the gear and plenty of little fish to catch right off the dock. We enjoyed being outside and listening to the sounds of nature. There were comfortable beds and plenty of extra bedding. Toys for the kids were a big help! We highly recommend staying at this cozy little cabin, but would suggest bringing all of your food and necessities with you as there are very limited options nearby, but that has no bearing on the cabin itself. It’s a fantastic retreat!
Accommodations around the Duluth area can be hard to come by during Grandma’s Marathon weekend. We were so fortunate to find this gem! The owners provided everything you need (and more) for the perfect lake vacation! We enjoyed fishing, using paddle boats, paddle boards, kayaks, having nightly bonfires, and even took a bike ride with the provided bikes! The only downfall is that we stayed such a short time, we will be back for a full week in the future! 10/10 rating!! Thank You Lori and John for everything!
It was a great place to stay. Not to far of a distance from Duluth and other attractions plus the benefit of being on a lake where you could fish swim etc. will definitely be going back
