Tucked away in Duck Creek Village on Utah`s scenic Cedar Mountain, this cabin sits at over 8,400 feet of elevation, surrounded by towering pines and the quiet of the Dixie National Forest. It`s a true mountain village feel with no stoplights, no crowds, just a small, welcoming community with a general store, café, and outfitters nearby for the essentials.
What makes the location special is how central it is to some of the most iconic landscapes in the Southwest. Navajo Lake, Cascade Falls, and Mammoth Cave are all just minutes away, perfect for an easy afternoon hike or fishing trip. Cedar Breaks National Monument, with its dramatic amphitheater views, is about a 20-minute drive, and Brian Head Ski Resort is roughly 30 minutes for winter slopes or summer mountain biking. For bigger adventures, Bryce Canyon National Park and Zion National Park are both under an hour and a half away in opposite directions. Making this cabin an ideal basecamp for exploring two of Utah`s most famous parks without backtracking.
Whether it`s summer hiking, ATV trails right outside your door, or winter snowmobiling across hundreds of miles of groomed trails, there`s something to do here in every season.
A car is essential here. Duck Creek Village is a mountain community along scenic Highway 14, about 30 miles (roughly 40 minutes) east of Cedar City, which is your best bet for full grocery runs, gas, and a wider range of dining. The village itself has a small general store for basics, so it`s worth stocking up before you arrive if you have a longer list.
Roads into Duck Creek are well-maintained year-round, but as with any mountain drive, expect winding roads and to take it slow, especially after dark or during winter weather. From the cabin, it`s about an hour to Bryce Canyon, just over an hour to Zion, and roughly 20–40 minutes to closer spots like Cedar Breaks, Navajo Lake, and Brian Head making day trips easy without too much time in the car.
