Lois we appreciate your feedback and your visit. You’re correct in your assumption about yard maintenance-that winter yard must wait until late spring for cleanup. Generally, our cottages decors are influenced by southern cottage and shabby chic decorating - which incorporates more of the traditional lake cottage life style - which our guests over many yrs have reacted very favorably. Joe it was a pleasure having you as our guest recently. FYI - we sent someone over to the cottage as soon as you told us you had this issue, and they addressed it. 2 years ago all new siding was put on the exterior of the cottage and boathouse, and new metal roof on both. Last year 70% of the dock was replaced and is nearly new. The yard is meticulously maintained. The interior is in excellent condition. The bedrooms and living area are large and spacious. The lakeside wall of the livingroom is nearly all glass, which provides guests a wide vista of the lake. The views are spectacular. All photos online were taken of this cottage. This is the first time 15 years that anyone has had an issue with the sidewalk. Across the road behind the cottage is an open acre of land surrounded by woods, providing additional outdoor space for guests to enjoy. Reviews consistently rate this cottage very highly and the cottage is listed on VRBO as a "Premier Rental", a designation only given to the very best properties on VRBO.

The contractor advised that the new door arrived Fri, 8/5, but was missing a couple parts, which he hopes to receive in a few days. We're as anxious as our guests to get this door replaced. In the meantime, we've advised guests tobe careful when closing the door. Those guests who have followed that advice have not had any issues.

The check in instructions are clear and simple. Check in begins at 4pm - not whenever someone feels like arriving. If we did that there would be chaos. We have excellent housekeepers and we let them take whatever time they need to get things right Their performance is well documented in these reviews. This is a very busy time of year and reservations are running back to back. Housekeepers have quite a challenge properly preparing a cottage for new guests. They usually need every bit of the time between bookings. Having guests show up before check in time, while the housekeeper is still working is counterproductive The housekeeper doesn't have time to chat with new guests. When the housekeeper advised us that these guests were there nearly an hour early, we did contact guests and told them they shouldn't be there and to let the housekeeper finish her work. Guests should not have come before 4pm , nor should they have intimidated the housekeeper into letting them bring their things from the car into the cottage while she was working, and before their reservation began. The sliding door we've already addressed. It was on back order for months, plus finding enough time between bookings to remove and replace it is a challenge [no one wants to have their vacation interrupted by construction]. There is a new hot tub cover that was also back ordered. Covid caused both these delays. For security purposes, we have a security camera that covers the rear of the property to the road, including the parking area. It does not view any areas where our guests congregate or socialize. It also serves as a warning if their is a power outage. And it's used for other things like determining when to have the snow removal people come and clear snow from the parking area and walkway

Actually we have advised guests to be careful when sliding the door closed from the outside. Someone broke the original handle, which allowed clearance, but we couldn't find an exact replacement. Arrangements with a contractor to replace the whole unit with the slider were made months ago. It's a custom made unit and has been back ordered. The new unit was expected later this month. Guest appeared not to have any complaints about the beautiful, clean cottage, with the awesome views, or about being water front and having a very nice hot tub in the center of the Wine Trail.

It was truly a pleasure having you all as our guests, and we appreciate you sharing your experience for the benefit of others. The slider and the hot tub cover are scheduled to be replaced in the near future. Unfortunately everything is back ordered and we're waiting a bit. We are sorry to hear about guest having the experience stated. We are replacing the slider with a new one soon. It has been difficult to get a replacement due to the pandemic. We've had to wait a considerable time for a replacement. The hot tub cover has a metal bar that slides over the top and supports the weight of the cover to make it fairly easy to remove the top, but some guests broke that piece and it is being replaced when the shop gets it in. As for updating, guest did not specify what exactly she was referring to, but the entire inside and outside of the cottage were redone 2 yers ago. And the interior is done a shabby chic decor, which is supposed to seem 'worn'. The cottage offers spectacular views and is very convenient to all the things people come here for, and is always easily accessible any time of year.

Faith thank you for staying at our cottage and for sharing your experience. Unfortunately a previous guest did something to that door, and we couldn't get it repaired the way we sihed in time for your visit. We were very sorry for the inconvenience to guest and his party, and we did our best to rectify the matter. Situations like this can happen, although they are rare. It helps explain why we get quite a few calls from guests who have booked online, simply to make sure they actually have a reservation, as they have had negative experiences elsewhere when booking online. We were pleased to have these guests, and glad they had a great time during their stay, despite the way it began.
