Hotel Adler

Hotel Adler

10/10 Excellent
"When I originally booked my stay, comments from previous guests described the decor as old and outdated. I found the opposite. The building is old (German poet Schiller once stayed there), but the room was modern throughout with walk in shower and staff very professional and polite. Breakfast was very good, and the hotel is right on the market square in the heart of the city within easy walking distance of everything. A farmer’s market is in the market square in front of the hotel several times a week as well as a stand with Thuringian bratwurst. A tourist info center by the market square next to city hall (Rathaus) was very helpful. I highly recommend the Adler Hotel in Rudolstadt."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Dornfeld An Der Heide?
The best area to stay in Dornfeld An Der Heide is the historic town centre, particularly around Marktplatz.

This area is the heart of Dornfeld An Der Heide, known for its well-preserved mediaeval architecture and cobbled streets. Marktplatz, the central market square, is surrounded by historic buildings, including the Old Town Hall and St. Michael's Church. You'll find a good selection of traditional inns, local restaurants, and artisan shops within easy walking distance.

For couples looking for a romantic escape, staying in the town centre provides a delightful experience. You can enjoy strolls through the historic lanes, dine at cosy establishments, and easily access cultural sites like the Dornfeld Castle ruins, which offer panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.

Travellers interested in exploring the region's natural beauty will also find the town centre a convenient base.
When is the best time to go to Dornfeld An Der Heide?
The best time to go to Dornfeld An Der Heide is from late spring to early autumn, specifically from May to September, when the weather is most pleasant for outdoor activities and exploring the region.

This period offers generally mild temperatures and sunshine, making it ideal for hiking and cycling through the Thuringian Forest, which surrounds the town. The warmer months also mean that local attractions, such as the Dornfeld Castle and the various nature trails, are fully accessible and enjoyable.

For couples looking for a romantic getaway, late spring (May-June) or early autumn (September) can be particularly appealing. The landscape is beautiful with blooming flowers or changing leaves, and the crowds are typically smaller than in the peak summer months. It's a great time for leisurely walks, enjoying the local cuisine at outdoor cafes, and visiting the historic sites without the bustling summer rush.

Families travelling with children will find the summer months (July-August) superb for their visit. The longer daylight hours and warmer weather are excellent for exploring the nature parks, visiting the local animal reserves, and participating in any outdoor events or festivals that Dornfeld An Der Heide might host during this time.
