Villa La Roca - A fusion of modern and typical Andalucian architecture
10/10 Excellent
"This is a delightful home in a lovely little village. Over 8 days we drove 950km all through the white hill towns! The house was perfect for us, however it should be noted there are many steps in the house that could be an issue for children or adults with balance issues. But we would visit again! And Miranda was a perfect host! We were desiring a small fan to move the warm air, and she brought one right away on Sunday evening! The house guide book has great information! Don’t miss the ancient Roman city of Acinipo! It is so impressive! We made a day road trip to Grenada to see the Moorish palace of Alhambra—it was a surprisingly easy day trip. Plan to start driving by 0630. It was about 2:20 in time each way! Ronda is an amazing city as well! The best meal we’ve had in 6 weeks in Europe was without a doubt Kutral! Chef Martin and his dry-aged steaks are incredible. It is located in the more industrial area of Ronda, but highly recommended! Lastly, if you are wanting a wonderful wine tasting—set one up with Pelar at Ramos-Paul! You absolutely won’t be disappointed! "
"House has charm . House middle of field, have to drive off road to access. You will get plenty of wild life in area. From field mice , wild boars , lizards ! Everyone loved the pool and outside veranda for meals . Ronda for shops accessible 30 mins away , if you want to visit coast 1.5-2 hrs away . Hire car required"
"Fantastic pre-arrival communication from owner Gina, and a warm welcome when eventually reaching this idyllic place.
Note that the location-pin shown on Google Maps is not accurate. It appears to show the accommodation to be in an urban area - it's not - it's very remote!
So ignore any booking sites that state that there's a bar or shop within 100m - there really isn't!
But the remote location is the main attraction of this place.
The tranquility and views are second to none, and well worth the short trek up the rural track.
The cabin (resembling a gypsy caravan) is comfortable and very well equipped, and is impressively insulated from the sun. I was expecting it to be an oven (August temperatures in the high thirties) but it was surprisingly cool. There is an a/c unit, but I rarely needed to use it.
While some of the eco equipment may not be what some are used to, it all works just fine, and the quirkiness is part of the charm.
There's a hot tub next to a spacious covered pergola with plenty of seating, plus loads of outdoor cooking facilities (including a BBQ and a pizza oven) - so it's a great place for a small group to really get away from it all for an alfresco break."

"5-star but make sure if you have a group that you understand the AC situation fully. The house is lovely. The little town is wonderful. Make sure you walk up into the town plaza. Views-outstanding."
