The COVID-19 outbreak has changed the way we travel, but it hasn't curbed our desire to explore. Here are some tips on how to tackle the new challenges of travelling:

• Research what, if any, rules or restrictions apply to both your destination and origin. It may not be possible to travel depending on local circumstances, so don't forget to check before you book.
• You must wear a face mask throughout your travel experience, even at screening checkpoints. You should be prepared to adjust your mask for ID purposes when asked by a TSA officer.
• To minimize the risk of cross-contamination, place your boarding pass on the scanner yourself and then hold it up for inspection. Do not hand your boarding pass directly to a TSA officer.
• You're permitted to take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your carry-on baggage. This will need to be removed for X-ray scanning.
• Empty everything from your pocket, like your wallet, phone and small change, and place them in your carry-on rather than into bins. This will reduce handling during the screening process.
• Separate any food you're carrying for X-ray screening. Putting it in a clear plastic bag and into a bin reduces the need for a TSA employee to handle and inspect your belongings.
