"We loved our stay at this house. The feel is somewhat rustic — the windows and doors open fully and let in the coastal breeze, but also sometimes critters, but we greatly enjoyed the experience of staying there. The pool was clean and refreshing, the perfect temperature, and the grounds were immaculately maintained. A good amount of hot water, and modern showers. The kitchen was full of everything we needed. The beds are on the older side, but we slept very well in general, especially with how active our vacation was.The beach, with wide golden sand and clear water, was a short but steep walk down the hill, very convenient. Our stay was over Easter, so some of the nearby restaurants had odd hours, but everyone was extremely nice, despite our limited French. The recommendations from our host were spot on. In particular, we loved Pelican Adventures and Chez Raf, but the Blue Lagoon sunset boat trip was also incredible.This is a terrific home base for a stay in Guadeloupe. The Basse Terre side is wild and gorgeous. It was our first visit, but will not be our last."

"Had a good stay. Car needed as beach access is limited directly from property though there is a “ secret” beach a reasonable walk away. Food was good with quite large portions. Room and private patio and gardens were very good. Speaking some basic French would be very helpful to you though staff did their best and there were fluent English speakers around most of the time. You are definitely in France but the experience is worth it. "

"Our beach bungalow was just perfect. Very private the only people walking by were other guests in the other bungalows. We had breakfast included always a lot of fresh choices. The same with dinner. We eat dinner 4 nights and the menu was always different. The only thing I might say negative was we weren’t told that you need to put one of your room keys in the card slot inside the room to get the electric to come on. Once figured out all was great. "

"Michel's place is wonderful and recommended. The checkin process was seamless. The property is exactly as depicted in the pictures. The bedrooms and bathrooms were spacious. There is a very large well equipped kitchen. The outdoor space and the pool was wonderful. The villa is located very close to a great beach and a number of restaurants that close at 3pm every day, so are not open for dinner. There are a number of restaurants in Deshaies for dinner. There are many attractions and beaches just a short drive away. "

"The setting by itself commands five stars: this spacious villa sits on a bluff just above a lovely, not-too-crowded beach, with the sounds of waves permeating day and night. A (steep) path leads down to the golden sand. If you enjoy privacy in a beachfront location, you're unlikely to find a better rental on Gwada.The villa itself is well-equipped and largely comfortable, especially the beds. But a few things could be more user-friendly. You take your life in your hands whenever you exit the gated drive in your car. Beach towels aren't provided, reinforced by stern warnings against using bath towels for the purpose, so either pack your own or run into town and pay inflated prices. The poolside loungers are of the uncomfortable, hard plastic variety. And some of the kitchen / dining gear (prep knives, corkscrew, wine glasses) came from a bargain store in a previous century.Aside from these inconveniences, we had a wonderful stay, with excellent communication by Franck and Aude, the local concierge. Definitely worth booking -- even if for the setting alone."
