Walnut Place a Charming Home in Historic Valley Junction area of West Des Moines

This 4 Bedroom home with large kitchen and gathering areas is completely furnished and ready for you to enjoy. You will love the charming features of this home. Two of the bedrooms have queen size beds, one bedroom has a twin bed and a full-size daybed with a twin size trundle! Another bedroom has a full-size bed and a twin size bed. For an additional guest charge there is also a memory foam full size sofa sleeper in the living room and three roll out queen size mattress/beds. There is a full bath on the second floor, a full bath on the first floor and a really cool locker style bathroom with 2 showers 2 sinks and a toilet in the basement. There is a washer and dryer as well. The lovely shaded patio area provides outdoor space and seating as well. The home is within walking distance to Historic Valley Junction, where there is great shopping and entertainment. You will be close to parks, pools, biking trails as well as the Racoon River park. This is a great property and very conveniently located. It is less than 15 minutes from the Airport and Downtown Des Moines. Plenty of off street parking. Plenty of space to relax and entertain. 9 of us stayed and all slept well. There was 19 total once family joined for dinners and spending time together. Plenty of room for all!

Business Stay

This place was a great choice for our work trip. The space was perfect for relaxing after long days. We had plenty of room to spread out and unwind. It was comfortable and convenient for our needs. We would definitely consider staying here again.Plenty of board games to stay entertained as well.

Girls getaway

The house was amazing- so many conversation pieces. We played games, watched movies and enjoyed the overall comfort of this home. Beds were very comfortable- bathrooms well stocked and clean!! Parking is great!!!! Highly recommend!!!

A Great Home Away From Home

Great multi-area home for our family reunion!

The property and location worked perfectly for us and provided a fun place for our family to gather at. The different rooms to hang out in was a huge plus for being able to do different activities together and separately. The communication with Jana was fabulous!

Unique and comfy home

Although I was busy my family really got to enjoy the property. The kids loved the theater area and learned to play chess. My husband enjoy to poker room and bar. All in all, the home was a great fit for our large family and the historical artifacts were nice to look at.

Great for family!

This house has 4 bedrooms, two on the main floor. Extra showers and toilet in the basement for extra guests. Fantastic game room as well. The eat in kitchen was perfect for our parents to be a part of the food making process! Thank you for your quick response when we had trouble with the door!

Great Space for big groups

The house lends itself really well to a group needing flexible space! I brought a group of High School Speech and Debate competitors to town for their National Competition and there were eight of us total. With minimal moving things about, we all had our own beds and plenty of room. Game room off the kitchen was great for us!

Quiet Neighborhood, Tons of Room

Very pleasant stay. We had a work crew for the state fair and this home was very accommodating. The house has and interesting setup. The kitchen is very well equipped. Fun game/gathering area. Beautiful flower gardens outside. Nice walking distance to Valley Junction Main St area. Lots of room and lots of sleeping space. Host was very helpful.

Sisters Retreat

The house was nice. We enjoyed the artwork and old musical instrument display. Owner addressed a couple issues right away and we were set. Some empty cupboards for our food and supplies would have been nice but we managed. We like to cook and stay in to eat so there was plenty of pots, pans, and other dishes. The traffic noise was a bit much but we got used to it. Thank you!

Average Stay

This home is very old. It is full of antiques and smells as such. We did have nice enough weather that we were able to open windows to air it out. There were enough beds for the 10 of us. The upstairs shower leaked through the ceiling into the bedroom below. When I contacted the host, they said there should have been a note on how to avoid that? Bathrooms had mold on the curtain and ceiling. Location was great and parking was awesome. Not a bad home, but wouldn’t choose it again.

Better than hotel

We enjoyed our stay in Des Moines. It was nice having a big kitchen and being able to do laundry. We also enjoyed the game room. The property manager is nice and helpful. The location is good; a short drive to downtown, parks and Drake University. The only negative for me is the house is located on a busy four lane street. You can hear the vehicles passing by when you are inside the house, which is not a big deal during the day, but at night makes it difficult to go to sleep. Another option for us would have been staying at a hotel, which would have most likely been noisy too, so the house is better than a hotel. Sleep tip: if sleeping in the master bedroom, keep the bathroom door closed to help with the street noise.
