Parking is not included but affordable parking garages are directly south and west of the complex right across the street! Metered parking is also available around the unit.
Guests will enter into the main lobby and take a short elevated ride up to the cozy condo. Inside the unit features a full kitchen, dining area and breakfast bar, dedicated workspace, living room with smart TV, 2 bedrooms both with smart TV`s while also having access to shared spaces such as a community area with games, 24/7 fitness facility and rooftop lounge with dog park/relief area.

This is a downtown space and apartment complex and while it`s not particularly noisy you may hear other tenants or cars outside occasionally.
Guests will access the condo using a lockbox located outside of the complex that stores a set of keys and fobs. Please keep track of the keys at all times. Lost keys or fobs will results in a fee of up to $200.

The front door utilize a ring doorbell that records audio and video 24/7 for guests safety and security.
This unit is part of a beautifully restored historic building, where all 100+ units feature the original sealed concrete floors. These floors naturally show imperfections, variations, and markings from the building’s history, which are part of the intentional “industrial loft” style of the complex. This design choice gives each space its own distinctive and authentic character.
NOISE MONITORING: In consideration of our community of neighbors in this expansive complex, we`ve implemented a Minut Sound Monitoring device within the unit. Rest assured, this device does not record any audio; instead, it monitors decibel levels. As responsible hosts, our commitment to being good neighbors is reinforced by using this technology, which provides us and our guests with alerts in case sound levels exceed the appropriate threshold. It`s our way of ensuring a peaceful and enjoyable environment for everyone. If sound warnings are ignored, fees and loss of reservation without a refund are possible.
**Pet Policy** Dogs are welcome, but they must be included in your reservation at the time of booking. To add a pet, put the number of pets in the search option next to where you select the number of guests. The pet fee will be automatically applied to your reservation when included this way. Please note, if an unregistered or unpaid pet is brought to the property, the fee will be doubled.
** ADDITIONAL FEES ** $75 pet fee (Taxes and platform fees are added automatically on top of our pet fee) 1. Smoking and drug use are not allowed inside the unit or in the hallways of the building. This includes vapes, weed, or other illegal substances. There is a $1000 fine if discovered.
2. Parties are not allowed in this property, including loud music. There is a fee of $1000 if a party is discovered or if a neighbor complains about excessive noise. Quiet Hours: 10pm - 8am.
3. There is a $50 fee per guest per night for undeclared guests.
4. Pets must be disclosed and approved in advance. Unregistered pets are subject to a double priced pet fee.
5. If an excessive mess is discovered after your stay, you will be charged accordingly on top of the standard cleaning fee.
6. A lost, missing, or damaged key, fob, or parking permit has a replacement cost of $75 each.
7. Check-Out Policy - Standard check-out time is 10:00 AM. Late check-out is not guaranteed and may only be available if there are no same-day bookings or scheduling conflicts with our cleaning team. If you`d like to request a late check-out, please inquire the day before departure. Requests made earlier will not receive a confirmed answer until that time. A fee may apply for a late check-out.
8. Check-In Policy - Standard check-in time is 4:00 PM. Early check-in is not guaranteed and depends on same-day turnover and cleaning schedules. If you`d like to request early check-in, please reach out on the day of arrival. We are unable to confirm early check-in prior to that day. A fee may apply for early check-in.
9. Everything in the home is inventoried. We will charge for any missing or damaged items.
10. Any cleaning issues must be reported within a reasonable time of check-in so that we can help resolve any issues you may have.
11. We do not allow packages/mail to be sent to the address you’re staying at. You may deliver to a local FedEx/UPS. We cannot help you to retrieve delivered mail.
12. You are booking with a valid government-issued ID and are not engaging in fraud or identity theft.
13. There is 1 security camera pointing at the door entrance. Blocking or disconnecting this device will lead to immediate termination of your stay with no refund.
14. Firearms and weapons are not allowed inside the unit or in the hallways of the building. Bringing a firearm onto the property will result in a $500 fee and may lead to immediate cancellation of the reservation without refund.

This was our first time staying in the R&T Lofts and it was great! Spacious, clean and quiet! Communication with the owner was also great, fast responses and clear instructions on how to access the loft. Would definitely recommend this for families staying in the area.
I stayed here with a few friends on the night of my 22nd birthday. It was very clean and the walk to dinner and drinks downtown was so convenient! Highly recommend
Came to Des Moines with my husband and some family. The location cannot be beat. You can walk to Wells Fargo, and to bars and restaurants, all while staying nice and warm in the skywalk. I didn't use the extra amenities of the building-fitness center, etc. but just having them as an option is great. Will definitely try to book again if coming to Des Moines.
We were here for a conference and were so close to the event center where it was held. I think it could’ve been helpful having resources of how to use the skywalks as I think we maybe could’ve used those to get to the event center if we knew. The apartment was perfect size for all of us and the beds were comfy and clean. One of the bathroom towels had beard trimmings so that’s our only complaint. Thank you to the host for getting back to us quickly and having specific directions on how to get in. Thank you!
This accommodation was just as advertised. Host was very responsive (though I found the repeated automated reminders about noise on the weekends to be overkill.) Only one key/FOB was included upon checkin, but a second one was provided upon request. (I would recommend asking for a second one ahead of time if you think you will need it, as it did take a full day to get the second one.) The well-appointed amenities of the building and unit meant we had everything we needed. Recreation/game room in the basement was lots of fun. Hot water did tend to run out quickly, meaning a few cold showers during the week. A great stay overall!
This unusual property provided the perfect way to balance our days at the hot, crowded State Fair with cool, open elegance and character downtown. Property is brand new rehab of the old Register & Tribune building, just a few short blocks from the 7th and Center DART bus stop to and from the Fair, so no need to drive and park to the fair! And the very chic Hello Marjorie bar just happens to be in the lobby, very cool. The loft has super high ceilings, to give it a very open feel. Having 2 bathrooms was clutch for our family of 6 (plus our dog Kenobi!) Dan responded to our questions immediately and was terrific through the whole process. Keys were easily accessible and checking out was a breeze. Highly recommend!
Great communication with owner…directions for everything were easy. Beds were comfy, bathrooms were spacious. Used the workout room located there- that was convenient!

It was a great location for being downtown. Parking was surprisingly easy and close. The space was the perfect size but could have used another comfy chair or two in the living room. We would stay here again.
The QR code on the lock box was very helpful in accessing the keys. The host quickly responded and resolved an issue we had upon arrival. We used the skywalk system to easily navigate to Casey's Center. I would be open to staying here in the future.
Clean, easy access, a great location downtown near restaurants and bars in a classic old news paper building. I half expected Perry White to bust in and scream "Stop the presses".
