About this property
Secluded house just minutes away from Deer Isle/Stonington villages and beaches!
A Stone's Throw house is situated 3/4 mile from the main road on a small peninsula. Enjoy the peacefulness, the sunny yard, shooting hoops or lounging on the sun shade covered deck. BBQ outside or cook in the fully equipped kitchen. There is plenty of internet (2gigs) to make work or entertainment not a problem at all.
Located just minutes from Deer Isle village and the working water front of Stonington. Start your day at 44 North coffee shop in either Deer Isle or Stonington, then check out the fabulous shops! Watch the working water fronts activity, lobster boats leaving to go haul and returning to unload the days catch. Also, stop by Maine Center for Coastal Fisheries. They have a touch tank and virtual reality learning tools to teach you about the lobster industry. They are also the home of Ask Leroy! If you haven't seen him check him out on YouTube, he is a gem! There are several great restaurants to choose from in Stonington, Fin and Fern, Stonecutters, 27 fathoms, the cockatoo and Burnt Cove Boil. Deer Isle has Aragosta at Goose Cove, the whales rib, LDI lobster and a take out There's a treat. Reservations are recommended during the summer season. Around the peninsula are several fabulous restaurants as well, including Brooklin, Brooksville and Blue Hill.
Close proximity to several beaches and the lily pond where you can swim, paddle board or kayak. Bring a picnic lunch and make an afternoon of sunshine and salt air. Island heritage trust has many hiking trails all around Deer Isle. Explore the many trails and also learn some local history while taking in some spectacular water views. The Settlement quarry and the Edgar M tennis preserve are two of my favorites! Up the road from the Edgar M tennis preserve is Nervous Nellie's jam and jellies. A must see for everyone young and old! Stroll through the grounds and look at all the metal works. It is sure to please everyone, and will leave you wanting to come back again and again. The gift shop is packed with yummy jams and jellies. Definitely worth the trip! If your destination is Bar Harbor and Acadia National park, it is about an hour and a half away. A great day trip! After a busy day you can return to A stone's throw house and relax, perhaps with a glass of wine, while waiting for your lobster to cook and enjoy a nice lobster dinner. You might just see a deer or two wander through the yard, listen to the loons or watch the birds and just let the evening roll on by.
Exciting news! Stonington has been added to the places to see this summer! tripstodiscover.com has tabbed the small island town of Stonington as a can't-miss visit this summer. We are under the "16 Best Small Beach Towns in the U.S. This Summer."

Clean and well maintained VRBO in a very secluded part of Deer Isle. Close to the lobster harbor and other attraction. Hosts extremely friendly and helpful. 5 stars isn't enough. Would recommend this rental to anyone. Great place!!Bucky and Sharon Billing
We loved this property location and its amenities; the host went above and beyond our expectations. If we come back for another visit, we will definitely book this again.
First time to Maine. This place was a perfect location for quite and some solitude yet close to coffee shop and cafes. There was much to explore on the island and just 1.5hr drive from Acadia. I would recommend and stay again
The property is located on a private gravel road. Very quite.
Nice home with a gorgeous deck and yard. Would definitely stay again.
Great dinner at Aragosta!
Highly recommend this property!
Delightful house in a peaceful and quiet setting. The house is immaculate, comfortable, and full of regional decorations. Appliances are outstanding. The large deck overlooks a beautiful lawn.
Beautiful and clean! Peaceful and quiet surroundings with a slight view of the water from the porch. Quick walk to the water for swimming or climbing rocks. We had a wonderful stay - a true highlight of our Summer! Rachael was a perfect hostess. Extremely helpful and accommodating.
Loved this house. It had all we needed and was very peaceful. It worked especially well with our infant whose crib fitted easily into the large bedroom. She also had plenty of room to crawl around and play in the living area. We loved it! We were four adults.

This is a BEAUTIFUL property. The home was spotless, and the patio deck was perfect. We enjoyed sitting out in the morning with our coffee and taking in the scenery. The owners are wonderful people, and we got to meet them personally. The appliances are top-of-the-line, and all the accessories were provided. If we ever return to Deer Isle, we will be looking to stay here again.
Spotless, comfortable, relaxing! We enjoyed the nice deck and comfortable chairs overlooking woods with ferns and glimpses of the water beyond. Large kitchen with nice appliances; dishwasher, immaculate refrigerator, microwave… also a nice w/d area in large bathroom. Enjoyed exploring the local area. Intended to shoot some hoops, but didn’t get to it, too busy relaxing. Our host Rachel was excellent… kind and helpful.
We had an amazing time at this property. It is thoughtfully put together with everything you need to cook, lots of extra towel and blankets, and toys for the kids. The home was exceptionally clean and the beds were so comfy. There is a wonderful yard and deck to enjoy, and the place is centrally located on the island so it’s easy to get around, yet still feels very private, with the home set back from the main road. Rachael and her husband were helpful and responsive throughout the booking process and stay. We’ll definitely be back to this place! We loved it!
The house was very clean and well kept, nestled in the woods and just a short walk to the water. The host was excellent and responsive to any needs. The pleasant main floor living area accommodates many adults at once. The outdoor deck was handsome and great for meals, its gas grill a fine feature and often used. Beds were quite comfortable. A great kitchen. The location has easy to access area towns, beaches and Acadia National Park.
Peaceful and pleasant! I would do it again!
What an outstanding experience at Rachael's home! She is an exceptional host who went out of her way to welcome us and was available whenever needed. She provides a perfectly clean, comfortable and fully-equipped home great for our family with 2 young children. It is an outstanding location, beautiful property inside and out. We saw many deer in the yard, the beds are very comfortable, the kitchen is well- equipped for cooking your own meals, excellent washer/dryer, amazing outdoor seating for meals, BBQ, etc. Nothing is lacking at this truly exceptional property! We would highly recommend and hope to return some day.
The home was charming and secluded. I booked this home for my son, daughter-in-law, and grandson to stay in to attend my dads celebration of life. They did not spend much time there due to how busy our weekend was-only there to sleep. The home was clean and nicely decorated. Upon arrival I could not get in because the code to the house had not been provided. I sent a message to the owner and heard back promptly. I would recommend this home to anyone looking to stay on the island.
We can not say enough good things about this property! The house is adorable. The decorations were perfect for a house on the water. I feel like they went abovevand beyond in making this place feel like home. The king size mattress was extremely comfortable! The appliences were top notch and we had everything we needed for cooking. The outdoor space is great. You can aee the water from the house. The porch was relaxing and the grill is a great bonus. Our youngest loved the basketball goal. We loved exploring the island and that Acadia and Bar Harbor were just a little over an hour away. Racheal and Mike stopped by to say hi and we enjoyed meeting and chatting with them. They are both extremely nice and welcoming. Racheal was extremely helpful with planning our trip. We loved Sand Beach in Stonington, the Muffin Shop and Theres a Treat takeout. If we ever make it back to Maine we will defenetly stay here again!
