James and Pam's place was absolutely perfect for our 3-4 day stay in Deadwood. My dad used to visit the area annually for work but has been wanting to make it back for the past several years. With his advanced Parkinson's, we knew that travel would take some planning and that we would need the perfect place to stay/rest when we weren't taking in all of the sights. We wanted a "home base" that wasn't a hotel, but that was close to the downtown area of Deadwood while also being a great starting point for day-trips to Spearfish Canyon, Devils Tower, Custer State Park, and Mount Rushmore - James and Pam's guest house could not have been more perfect. The home was the perfect size for two of us, and easily accessible for my dad who uses a cane/wheelchair to get around. I slept on the pull-out couch, which was very comfortable, and my dad loved the Serta adjustable bed so much that he asked me to take pictures of the tags before we left! The kitchen was a great size for having coffee/breakfast in the morning, but would have also been great for cooking full meals. The trolley stop being at the end of the street was amazing for us as well; I was able to drive him to the corner, park the car back in the driveway and walk up to meet him (it's literally 3 houses away!). We loved having James and Pam next door and, while they respected our privacy, they were also eager to help when needed and made us feel so incredibly welcome. If we make it back, this is 100% where we will be staying!
