The Space:
Tiny Zahalka House by Tiny Away is in Daylesford, just an hour from Melbourne and 41 minutes from Ballarat. The holiday home sits under tall pine trees, looking out over the bushland of historic Cornish Hill. You’ll hear kookaburras and magpies in the morning and fall asleep to the sound of Smith’s Creek. It’s also close to popular spots like Hepburn Springs, Lake Daylesford, and the Daylesford Sunday Market.
A cozy 139-square-foot tiny home with a queen-sized bed, perfect for 2-persons. Easy water access, split air conditioning, a kitchenette, cooking equipment, and excellent bathroom facilities. These amenities include an eco-friendly cassette toilet, hand basin, and gas-heated shower—making it a perfect choice among relaxing holiday homes.
Guest Access:
You can explore the veggie patch and use the railway carriage table under the birch trees.
Our space is around the two studios, and guests are restricted from entering the main house yard. Please use the path from the tiny home to the greenhouse and driveway to reach your car.

Tiny Zahalka House by Tiny Away is located in the beautiful town of Daylesford, known for its natural mineral springs and scenic landscapes. It’s just an hour from Melbourne and 41 minutes from Ballarat. Daylesford also hosts exciting events such as the ChillOut Festival, Words in Winter, and the Swiss Italian Festival.
Start your day with a walk around Lake Daylesford, then soak in the mineral springs of Hepburn. Hunt for local treasures at the Sunday Market, picnic under the trees at Wombat Hill Gardens, and stock your basket with fresh, local produce from Tonna’s or Blake Family Grocer.
Getting Around:
By car:
- 3 mins to Hepburn Springs
- 41 mins drive from Ballarat
- 59 mins drive from Bendigo
- 30 mins drive from Castlemaine
- 1 hr drive from Melbourne. All are reachable by 2WD
By public transport:
- Taxi service available. Train and bus from Southern Cross Station, Melbourne via Woodend or Ballan to Daylesford. - - Then a 15-20 min walk to us or a 3min taxi ride.

- No unregistered guests or visitors allowed
- Shared Areas include the table under the birch trees
- Guests can pick apples and blackberries seasonally
- Cereal and porridge sachets provided for 1st-night-only
- You can use the gas BBQ grill. Please clean it after use
- Telstra, Optus, and Vodafone have good signals; others are weak
- We would like to advise guests that later check-outs will incur an additional charge
- Please take all your rubbish and recycling with you when you leave. Two bins are provided outside—place them by the fence or on the road on bin night.
Guest Advisory
- Daylesford may experience power outages. Some tea light candles are provided to be used in glass
holders but we recommend you bring a portable battery for your devices should you rely on them.
- A AUD 200 cash damage deposit is required on arrival and refunded within 7 days if no damage or extra cleaning is needed. Please leave the tiny house tidy and clean. Contact the land host for enquiries.
Important note:
- Due to the nature of the property, abundant wildlife may be present
- No BBQ grill and outdoor fire pit available during a fire ban. The fire pit is allowed from JUN-OCT.
- For stays of 5 nights or more, an additional cleaning fee will be collected to help maintain the cassette toilets and ensure a clean and fresh experience for all guests.
