"I always enjoy my stays at The Grand, and have visited annually for 16 years. The pool is fantastic and the ambience lovely. Great bar in wonderful setting with views of the bay, and reasonable prices for drinks. Breakfast is good and tasty, but I have never liked the marmalade, far too sweet and sickly, and I wish they could provide sourdough in this day and age. Rooms are clean and comfortable but found hot during my recent stay, and you cannot turn off the heated towel rail in the bathroom. The main thing which lets the hotel down is the reception staff. It is the same year after year. You can be overcharged, if not on the ball, and even though I sent an email explaining about my two bookings and who would be in each room (and received an affirmative response), there was utter confusion on arrival and departure, and we witnessed other guests experiering similar issues. They were blaming the new system, but it has been the same story at reception for years. If only they would get an efficient reception manager to sort them out, I could then give five stars."

"I knew I'd made the right choice of hotel from the moment I arrived. The receptionist was welcoming and friendly, the public rooms were gorgeous and tastefully decorated. Everything looked immaculate and gave a great first impression. I dined in the restaurant one evening and the meal was one of the best I've had in a while. The waiting staff are perfect - attentive but not over-bearing. The spa facilities were wonderful. Overall, a fabulous stay and I'd definitely book again."

"We had a wonderful stay in this property. Fantastic location right on the seafront - we had a sea view from our spacious family room. We needed to check in very late and we contacted the hotel to make sure this wasn’t a problem - the staff couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly and our late check in was not an issue. Good range of choice for breakfast - cereals, fruit, yogurt, croissants and pastries, meats and cheese plus a hot buffet. We have only given 4 stars for the property condition as the outside could do with a lick of paint. However, this is not a major issue and in no way affected our stay. We would recommend this hotel to other guests and would definitely stay again."

"Main property is generally clean and tidy. Major issues with all windows and doors though. Some can't even be opened, others can't be closed. Even when closed there are massive howling draughts from the seals or frames. Heating has to be on constant just to even it out. All of them need replacing. 2nd hot tub isn't a hottub, just a bath with a hot hose running to it. Kids 'pods' pretty unusable, 1 stinks of damp rot, the other is just musty. The 'gym' has 1 reasonable running machine, the rest is all rusty, worn out or just broken. The big pool/hottub is excellent, but showing its age with missing jet nozzles and broken phone audio connector. Basic chemical care advice given, lookup better advice for safer usage. Cutlery drawer in kitchen has broken rail. The host was contactable and responded on WhatsApp, but only nearby on changeover days so not much use if something is broken/breaks. Definitely a property being mis-sold with 7year old photos. Nice location, and worked ok for price we paid, but wouldn't come back or want to pay current listed price. #1 advice: bring a roll of gaffa tape to tape up the window draughts."
