My boys and I loved everything about the house and the views walking out on the deck. The only thing that could make it perfect is a hot tub on that deck 🤗
Coming from Chicago area we were really looking for the views and were not disappointed. The home was perfect for our needs and we loved sitting on the deck. Some reviews mentioned the driveway and trouble backing out to the street but we had no problems at all. Location was peaceful which was needed after dealing with the Thanksgiving weekend traffic.
We enjoyed our stay very much. It had the most spectacular view of Douglas Lake with the mountains behind it.
The house was very clean and comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped.
Only negatives were the master bath. Tub was impossible to get in and out of. We had to use 2nd bathroom to shower. The driveway was steep and hard to get out
Amazing views of the Smokey Mountains and the lakefront - what more does one need?? Nightly viewing of the fireworks from Dollywood is the extra bonus. Well equipped home and perfect location to head down to Gatlinburg/ Pigeon Forge or to Knoxville.
The view of the lake from the property is amazing! The house was very clean and well maintained. The owner was easy to communicate with before and during our stay. We would plan to come back if we decide to take another trip to the area.
This is a wonderful, comfortable home, with a spectacular view of both the sunrise and the sunset. You can also see the Douglas Dam from the porch. We loved this place and did not want to leave!
Our family stayed 5 days in this beautiful home and we loved it! Had no issues with the property. There is no lake access from property but lake and mountain view from the large back deck was beautiful, and lake access was just a 5 min drive away. It was a very peaceful area with no traffic. Would definitely stay here again. We had ages 18months, teen, young adult, and us older parents and we all loved the property.
My boyfriend and I decided to take a quick getaway to the mountains and this was a perfect place. The lake and mountain view was amazing. The cabin was conveniently located and close to all of the areas attractions. The kitchen was perfect for cooking meals (tho we did eat out mostly because there are sooo many good restaurants). We enjoyed the fireplace each night which was a romantic bonus. The owners were very responsive (I had trouble connecting to WiFi but the issue was user error and quickly resolved) We definitely want to visit again and this property is our first choice!

House needs a big punch list
First, the location is perfect, but the house needs a deep cleaning. Toilet in the hall bathroom only works with plunger, there are only ceiling lights in bedrooms, the sunken bathtub is really slippery, etc.
We stayed a week & had a great time. The views are wonderful & being next to the lake was so nice & serene. The home was very comfortable, including the beds. The host was fantastic to communicate with and was very accommodating. Some people have complained about the driveway, but we had no problem & it's paved. We backed in with ease. It's so nice to have a carport because it rained 3 days, & when we left & returned, we stayed completely dry. The back deck is really nice too, we enjoyed several days/nights enjoying the peace & quiet. There's only one neighbor & they were really quiet. This is the perfect place to go if you want to visit Great Smoky Mountain National Park, Dollywood, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg. & several other places that are close by. The Park was the furthest distance away & it took about 45 minutes to get there. There's lots to do in the area.
Pictures really can't do the lake view justice! It is full of color even in December. The location is great. This was cheaper and more private than most hotels, so we feel it is very well priced even though there are a few things that were less than ideal.
Be sure to bring Kcups for coffee. It is a single and there is a reusable Kcup. But for multiple adults it took a while to keep cleaning it to use.
If you need a nonstick pan and a spatula, bring them. Otherwise the kitchen is fairly well stocked.
The "step down" tub/shower in the master is drafty and very hard to get in and out of, but it does work.
And note that the bed in the bigger guest bedroom is a water bed.
Overall, we enjoyed our weekend and had great family time there!
After wrapping up a long, arduous work project, I found myself in need a quiet getaway - and this more than fit the bill. Looking forward to return in the upcoming years.
My personal highlights:
- Outstanding views of Lake Douglas, I spent three perfect fall days just sitting outside reading and looking at the lake
- Remarkably quiet and peaceful - so very quiet I wager I could hear a pin drop at night
- Relaxing - I had some of the best sleep I can remember on the very comfortable mattress in the master bedroom
- Great workspace off the master bedroom - a comfy chair and an excellent desk made room to catch up on some reading and personal projects
- Room to spread out - great place for family or close friends to share and not feel on top of each other all day long. Between the guest bedrooms, the deck, the living area, and the kitchen this would be a great vacation destination.
