We arrived at the property to funds it was closed with no sign of life. The car car was empty and covered in weeds so I think it had been closed for a while. We had to arrange other accommodation at 6pm in the evening at a cost of £100 and a further 40 min drive away. DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL

A rather tired hotel
The hotel was well located but much in need of refurbishment. With major investment this hotel has potential but was expensive for the quality and service on offer.

The only good thing you can say is that it is relatively cheap. Check in took an age, firstly they had given my room to someone else so had to sort another. Secondly the person who checked me in was far more interested in his WhatsApp messages than dealing with me. Next the room, whilst fairly spacious, was filthy. There was cigarette ash all over the seat in the room and the bathroom had at best been given a quick wipe down, which in times of Covid is not good enough. At 21:30 when I was sitting at the desk in the room a member of staff (i'm assuming) unlocked and opened the door without knocking or warning and came in saying he had come to check the TV. This was disconcerting for me, and if I had been a single woman by myself I suspect this could have been very distressing. This hotel has a lot of potential, but is so dated and the staff just don't seem to have much of an idea what is going on, and certainly lack any concept of privacy. Avoid unless you are desperate.

Won't be back!
The whole place smelt terribly of damp. There was wallpaper peeling off the walls in the bedroom. Bathroom was clean but had a bad smell. Went downstairs for dinner to be told they were not serving meals - and the nearest place to eat was 22 miles away. We found a beautiful wee hotel a couple of miles away - where we got a lovely dinner. (If they hadn't been fully booked, we'd have stayed there!) When we got back, there were people eating in the dining room!!! Not happy to see that when we were told that meals were not being served!!! Breakfast was okay, but have tasted better elsewhere. The level of communication was awful. Not at all helpful. Won't be returning!

Nest time I bring my breakfast
When I booked it was not clear as to whether breakfast was included. As vegetarians we were limited and had a very light breakfast. The £12 cost was far too high.

Ok ish
was for four nights quite comfortable hotel staff reliable a little difficult because they all appear to be eastern european so english is not always brillient, The room was good and came with all the usual comforts, food was poor and a bit expensive for quality but the hotel cater mainly to coach parties. Overall ok ,

Very quiet setting.
Staff nice, friendly, competent. Get out for a walk locally & view picture postcard beauty up past the railway station. Fixed menu meal not great for families. Bed too hard, bathroom door width not accessible width, noise insulation between rooms insufficient. Need to link up a drink service with meal service. Apart from that the positive organisational culture is evident with high standards set and met for what is there.

We had a lovely stay. The hotel does feel dated with orange sheets and green towels. But they are all clean. Food is good and great value as is drink. Will stop again as great value

The hotel rooms were clean but of older condition. The service was under middle and not very professional. It is a pity only foreigners are running hotels these days!. The surrounding area is pretty and they had a lot of flowers in their garden. The food was fine but not much to choose from.

The room was comfortable, spacious and quiet, with a good bathroom. Breakfast was a little crowded as the buffet layout struggled with a coach party and the coffee was awful. At checkout I was asked to pay for the breakfasts and, when I said that I'd already paid via Expedia, was told I was wrong, only for a check to show that I was correct. The receipt given shows an amount less than what was paid to Expedia.

poor stay
not really what I was expecting. breakfast area was too hot to sit in, there was no atmosphere in the bar area, too much like a waiting room. photos show a log fire burning that has not been used for years and staff would not light it. overall not worthy the expense, save your money and go somewhere else.

Its a bit dated. The shower in the room is fine if you are 5ft. Food pretty average and if you want a drink with your dinner you have to go to the bar and get it yourself.

Scary lift
The hotel was trying to be something that it wasn't. The staff were trying to make it a 5 star classy hotel but the building was sadely about 2 stars. The lift took about 2 minutes for the doors to close and we ended up walking up to our 3rd floor room because it was quicker and safer. The breakfast was decidedly average. But at least the staff tried there hardest.

The food in the evening was of very poor quality especially for the price, frozen vegetables and roast potatoes. Breakfast was ok, but still not really of an acceptable quality for the price. Both nights we were there, there was at least 2 coach parties in, meaning everywhere was very busy and noisy. Not enough sound proofing between rooms either walls or ceilings, you could here the person in the next room in the toilet! My duvet cover had a stain and a hole in it. There was a stain on the carpet. They changed the towels despite them being hung up - this really bothers me why do hotels insist on doing this!! You could not have a drink in the restaurant - you had to go to the bar and get it yourself, I have never experienced this before. Service at the bar was exceptionally slow, the barman had to go and get milk for the coffee machine - fair enough - however, he was gone for at least 10 minutes! Everything was old and looked tired.

Busy hotel in a lovely location, spacious room
The hotel is in a nice location, has a good-sized parking lot. The room was really spacious and the bed was quite comfortable. The woman on reception was helpful and friendly. The downside to our room was that it was situated above the kitchen and so there was a lot of clattering around when the kitchen was in use, the walls were very thin, if you are a light sleeper or go to bed early then this particular room would be unsuitable.
