"The place was clean but the photos are showing 2 places. The beds were confortable. The bedroom were not insonorated like it was written so we could ear lots of neighborhood dogs barking at night. Overall the place had everything we needed to visit that local part of Belize."

"This place is an absolute gem! The pool is stunning, the room was spacious, beautifully appointed, and incredibly comfortable, and the entire property feels like a little slice of paradise. Our host was outstanding—they truly went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. I honestly can’t say enough good things about this stay. If you’re on the fence, just book it—you won’t regret it. Highly, highly recommend!"
"Such a lovely oasis with great amenities. Hosts were great at communication particularly in relation to food as many restaurants were closed for Easter. We would absolutely stay here again!"
"Everything and everyone at the Black Orchid was fantastic. The food was delicious, the beds were extremely comfortable, the staff was friendly and welcoming, and the drinks were strong. 10/10 would recommend."
"We traveled as a family of 4 and stayed in the suite which included 2 bathrooms, 2 bedrooms and a family room with a fridge. There are many great things to note, the space is as described “a jungle resort.” We were immersed in the jungle vibe with coconut trees, all sorts of birds and other wildlife. Our room included made to order breakfast, which was always delicious and we opted to dine in the tree house. The kids enjoyed the pools and I loved the mineral bath. The hosts were very accommodating and there is a restaurant on premises. Special shoutout to Gloria, Benito and Orlando, they made our stay worth it.
Things to be mindful of, it’s a hidden gem so a bit secluded and the roads getting in are full of pot holes. It’s about an hour drive from the airport and they offer pickup and drop off services. We opted to rent a car which was helpful. There is a spa, we didn’t have an opportunity to try it but I heard great things.

"If you are looking for the jungle experience than this is the place for you. We were greeted by the local troop of Howler monkeys on arrival. Beautiful house right on the river. Locals had been seeing Manitee in the river near the house. Kenny and Shanna were great. We are already planning a return trip. "
Welcome To The GECKO BUNGALOW! Stunning POOL FREE Int'l Airport Shuttle!!
10/10 Excellent
"We arrived in Belize early, and contacted Scott and Michelle, they gave us recommendations for a great restaurant while they were getting our bungalow ready for an early check in. The lovely house keeper, unfortunately was sick and couldn't come to work, but you would never know it. Scott managed like a boss! Not only was he the housekeeper, but the concierge, shuttle driver, and host! The moment we walked through the gate, it was a fun, funky, campy, paradise! " Alexa, play yacht rock" ! The gecko pool was crystal clear and we were greeted by the most awesome pool keeper Luci Lizard. We were a party of 3 in the gecko bungalow, 2 bedrooms, well appointed, bright and clean decor. There was a small kitchen, but had everything we needed, mostly congregated in the outdoor grill kitchen poolside! Scott and Michelle were responsive to all of our questions and needs, and had contacts for everything from tours to taxi service. If we are ever blessed to return to Belize, this is where we will stay! 10 out of 10 recommend!"
"This condo feels like home. The furniture is comfortable. The kitchen has the necessities. The condo is gated in a quiet neighborhood. The pool is gorgeous and perfectly maintained. The outdoor deck is set up for dining and sunning with table, bar, and lounge chairs. The mango tree adjacent to the deck area is heavy with fruit, but it is still to early to enjoy. The condo’s host is responsive and helpful. I couldn’t ask for a better home away from home!"
Amazing Jungle Tree House right over the river with bikes and canoe
8/10 Good
"Note: Whereas we originally signed up for Jungle House, they needed to switch us to Howler Landing. (explanation not clear). That said, the house was very nice, quite beautiful, comfortable, with 2 comfortable queen beds, modern appliances, spacious, and very well stocked (except no shampoo or soap for shower). Shanna & Kenny were "super", friendly, helpful, communicative & provided transportation (for a price) between destinations. They were very responsive to questions & concerns. You will see Howler monkeys quite close up. There is a river nearby, but you have to "wade" through construction "stuff" & mud to get to it. It's not "swimmable". The negatives were: its remote location, in a fairly poor neighborhood with few services nearby. There is a fair amount of traffic noise. The property is under construction (other buildings in the immediate vicinity) & so it's kind of a "mess" at this time; so the "surroundings" are quite suboptimal -- it may be better in the future. A nearby neighbor cranks up his stereo very loud much of the daytime, but fortunately, not at night."
