If you'd prefer something a bit more private, try the uninhabited San Jose Island by taking the ferry from the Fisherman's Wharf Pier. Stroll the sandy shores there admiring the picturesque views as you pick up seashells to immortalize your time there. It also serves as a great spot for bird-watching and fishing, so bring your pole and serenely cast a line.
