Weatherwood - Gorgeous Luxury Log Cabin with Spa, Sauna, & Games! 8 minutes from Crystal Mountain!
Weatherwood is a charming and exquisite luxury log cabin with A NEW OUTDOOR HOT TUB / SPA and indoor sauna. Located in a gorgeous wooded setting along a crisp, clear, and sandy little creek. Only 8 minutes from Crystal Mountain and it is strikingly peaceful and quiet in the area! Also features a wood fireplace, central AC, outdoor bonfire ring, wooden swing overlooking the creek, wrap-round deck with screening, family games, high-speed Wi-Fi, and over 4000 square feet of space!
NEIGHBORHOOD:
The cabin is located in a rural, partially-wooded area outside of Copemish, Michigan. It is VERY peaceful, serene, and quiet at the property. There are not many homes in the immediate area, but the homes in the area do vary significantly in terms of size and value.
The home is in a great location for exploring northern Michigan! First of all, it is only 4.9 miles (less than a 10-minute drive) from Crystal Mountain Resort! With the indoor sauna, the huge wood fireplace, lots of space, and the year-round natural beauty of the immediate area, the home serves as a great location for a ski trip to Crystal Mountain! Note that Crystal Mountain also has golf and lots of year-round activities, including both indoor and outdoor pools and a spa that is open to the public! In terms of golf, note that the cabin is also just 20.4 miles (less than a 30-minute drive) from Arcadia Bluffs Golf Course.
The home is also close to a number of other great northern Michigan destinations including:
* Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore * Lake Michigan * Crystal Lake * the charming beach towns of Manistee, Onekama, Arcadia, Frankfort, and Beulah * Traverse City
THE SPACE:
The layout out the home is such that there is one bedroom on the main floor and two bedrooms on the lower level. The second floor consists of a large loft area that sleeps 8 adults! There is a full bathroom on each of the 3 levels. The indoor sauna and the laundry room are both on the main floor. The wrap-around deck is also on the main floor. There is a dining area on both the main floor as well as in the lower level. The home also has a large and beautiful wood fireplace on the main floor that guests are welcome to use.
There is a large den and entertainment area on the lower level. This area includes a sectional sofa, television, bar area, dining table, shuffleboard game, foosball game, and a mini arcade Pac-Man video game, which all provides for great family fun! There is also a futon and a large television in the loft area. Thus, there are large televisions with live streaming and Roku on each of the 3 floors and plenty of room for individuals to find their own private space or else gather together. The home is very comfortable year-round with both central air conditioning for the summer as well as a natural gas forced-air furnace for the winter.
Outside, the home is beautifully landscaped including new apple trees that have been recently planted. First Creek is close to the property and it's quite clear, sandy, and shallow, so it's super fun and safe for kids of walking age and above! The area is very private, quiet, and serene with a long paved driveway separating the house from the main road and there's also very little traffic on the main road. The home also features a spectacular backyard patio that faces First Creek and includes Adirondack chairs, an outdoor bonfire ring, and THE BRAND NEW HOT TUB / SPA that is located just outside the backyard entrance to the lower level.
Given the serenity, quietness, and privacy of the cabin, it works great for honeymoons, anniversaries, and romantic birthday getaways! :-)

It is highly recommended that guests have their own vehicle!

The home was absolutely beautiful. It was comfortable, well stocked and we had a fatalistic time. The location was good to access skiing and some local attractions.

Absolutely Fantastic—as Always!
Our family just loves this cabin. It's perfect for us, and the winter weather made it all more magical this Thanksgiving. Highly recommended, and our hosts are always right on top of things.
We loved our stay at Weatherwood! It was in a great location for day trips to several locations: Frankfort, Empire, Glen Arbor, Manistee, and Traverse City. The home was a comfortable and relaxing place and had ample space for our group of nine. The kids enjoyed the creek and the hot tub and we all enjoyed the large table for playing games and the screened in porch. The property manager was very responsive. We would definitely stay again!
Great stay all around. Super clean and comfortable house. Excellent property manager that was very helpful. Great location. Very picturesque and serene views!
My friends and I stayed here for the weekend and had an amazing time! The location was fantastic if you are looking to get all you can out of Crystal Mountain and other nearby activities. The property manager was wonderful and so kind throughout our stay. Would definitely consider booking again.
We had a wonderful time at the Weatherford cabin. The property was perfect for our needs with a very large group of 13 friends for a weekend away. Considering the size of our group, the cabin was very comfortable. We did a day trip out to Sleeping Bear Dunes, which was about 45 minutes away. We loved our stay!
Comfortable and beautiful inside and out for family gatherings with lots of thoughtful amenities and entertainment for all ages. Close to Crystal Mountain and groceries. Understand the need for many outside security cameras, but felt one over hot tub was invasive and created concern over more electronis indoors.
The cabin is huge, rustic while being high end. Check in was great and simple. We stayed for our annual Steelhead Fishing Trip and fished the Manistee. Cabin was very clean, very spacious and well appointed. Only recommendation would be to upgrade the outdoor gas grill. It doesn’t get hot enough and has only a few hot spots in front and back. We definitely will be going back! Thank you Eric!
We had a wonderful stay at Weatherwood! So many fantastic touches, not just to the design of the house but also to the experience. We used the house as a base for Sleeping Bear Dunes and Traverse City - both are not that far, and when we returned to the house we enjoyed the solitude, amenities, and viewing the stars without the light pollution. Though fairly remote, you will find great grocery store options within a 15-20 minute drive. Everything you want or need for a relaxing, enjoyable vacation is at Weatherwood!
Ten men in their forties had enough room to relax and unwind in this perfect vacation home! All amenities in the house got used and the kitchen is so stocked next time I can leave all my cooking utensils at home! The only thing it’s missing is a picnic table outside!
We took advantage of the large table to board game throughout the weekend. The unexpected surprise was the parlor games in the basement! Everything was enjoyed!
Place was everything you could ask for! Big, spacious and yet homey all at the same time. Perfect location from crystal mountain just 5-10 minute drive even in the snowy conditions. Only downfall is the unpaved road leading to the house (not their fault but needed to be noted). Would recommend AWD or 4x4 in bad conditions. Nice little bar area in the lower level as well as plenty of TVs. Great for a big family with all ages. (70 year old to 6 year old was our age ranges). We will definitely be back in the future!
Found this cabin last minute for memorial weekend and our family decided we had to try it out. This cabin did not disappoint! Every part of the cabin was gorgeous. we were a group of 12, 7 adults 5 kids and had plenty of space. kids loved the basement game room and the loft to play. they loved the creek and found tons of frogs turtles and other wildlife. Adults enjoyed the large porch and Sauna. Cabin had everything we needed and more. Beds were very comfortable even the futon! definitely
would stay here again. its amazing
A wonderful property that includes all sorts of excellent amenities. The attention to detail is amazing inside the cabin. There is literally floor to ceiling decor on every level that makes you feel like you’re staying at a luxury hunting lodge (reminds me of the Disney owned California Grand Hotel at the Disneyland resort). We enjoyed using the sauna and it looks like pretty soon the hot tub will be ready to use also. My children absolutely loved the loft and playing in the creek behind the house. My only regret is that we didn’t stay longer.

Beautiful!
The home was absolutely beautiful and we loved our 3 night stay. There was tons of space for our 8 to spread out and the kids loved all the provided games/activities. The beds were comfortable and communication with the host was prompt and helpful. The were thoughtful amenities throughout the home and the kitchen was well stocked. We would definitely book here again!
Some notes. The temps on each floor were significantly different and we weren't able to warm the basement to a reasonable level without overheating the upper floors. Be prepared with extra blankets for the basement rooms and some fans for the upstairs loft. A welcome book with directions for the various home highlights and essentials would be appreciated in the future (i.e. fireplace, sauna, hot tub, fire pit, garbage, local food, etc).

This property will blow you away right as you first enter. It is a showstopper. The place was spotless. It had everything we needed. The towels were lovely. The beds were comfortable.
And, if you have older elementary and/or teens there are a lot of activities to keep them entertained. Plus, there are plenty of areas to send them off to. My kids particularly loved the loft bed/bath area.
The entryway had a slew of cubbies and hooks so we could keep all our outwear organized.
I loved the couches and large dining room table.
We chose to stay here because we were skiing at Crystal Mountain. And, this location is perfect for that because it really is just a very short drive away.
That said, we would love to return in the summer to use the lovely porches and outdoor areas that we couldn't make use of during this stay.
A couple of words of caution:
First, if you don't have 4 wheel drive, do not stay here in the winter. The roads are not necessarily plowed quickly. We have 4 wheel drive so this was not an issue for us.
Second, the open stair designs from basement to first and first to second floors would have me recommend against families with kids under 5 years of age to stay here. The design of the stairs is such that you can't really block them off, and they are very open.
