New remodel and clean excellent. Needed another coffee. We liked the TV programming Liked having micro, coffee and refrigerator. Tidy up the outside area. The last question in this review is racist and none of your business.

Surprisingly modern/updated inside
Surprisingly modern/updated inside, especially the bathroom. Very clean as well. Only negatives are poor wifi and front door window had no drapes/blinds

This property is being renovated and updated by the owner. But even with the updates, it cannot hide the fact that it has deep rooted problems. The shower drain does not drain, it takes 20 minutes for the water to go down. In the mean time, I was soaking my feet in dirty water all throughout showering. The smell in the room is musty, mold smelling. The bed linens were not clean, there was dirt on the foot of the bed and the comforter smelled of B.O. There’s construction trash scattered in the back of the building and all around, such as old bed frames, PVC pipes, etc. There was a mixup in our booking and the caretaker was surprised when we arrived, stating she was not expecting guests staying for 4 nights that day but she pointed us to a room and gave us a code. Later that evening, another guest was trying to pry open our room because she apparently was told in an email that she was to stay in that room and we scrambled to stop her from entering. The owner later called me and booked me over the phone, wondering why our Hotels.com booking did not push through. This place is a mess.

Hi Thomas; First and foremost, thanks for staying with us and for being a great guest. Our on site manager said she really enjoyed having you. We are sorry about the plumbing issue in the shower drain, we had it snaked. We would also have been happy to have switched rooms for you so we could address it. We will review and address the issues you raised. There was a huge wind storm and fire last November that caused damage to the motel and burned circa 70 homes, it’s been a long and expensive recovery process but I’m very excited, most of the feedback from new and returning guests has been very positive and we are almost done! With construction comes some construction debris, which to your point is in the back of the motel. Regardless, we are almost done and I reviewed some organization items with our contractors. Good news is we are also replacing all of the beds Regarding your reservation, our software rejected it because you submitted a fake CC to Hotels.com causing some confusion surrounding your reservation, hence the challenge. While the outside still had a highway motel feel, the inside was very nice. A full remodel with attention to detail made this hotel a pleasant surprise. With a great BBQ across the street, this was a great place to stay on the way to Mammoth. With some improvement on the outside, this would be a great hotel.

Nice, tidy place to stay in Walker
My wife & I were in Walker for only one night in Room 1 (queen bed with small kitchenette which we didn't use). Room was tidy and homey. Even though we didn't use it, the kitchenette was stocked (utensils, pots/pans, plates, etc). With the exception of the Hwy 395 about 25 yards away, the place was quiet (and the highway noise was minimal at night). The bed was pretty firm, but comfortable. The only complaint I have has to do with the air conditioner which is fairly noisy and turns on and off a lot. Makes it harder to sleep if you're a light sleeper like me.

I've stayed here a few of times and I will definitely be back. I love the location, great BBQ place right across the street, there's a nice general store that's also an easy walk. The owner has completed some nice upgrades lately, the new rooms are incredible. I booked on of the old rooms but the owner was nice enough to upgrade me to one of the newly remodeled rooms, really nice. The old rooms are clean and comfortable but dated. I love that the rooms all have key-less entry, it made check-in and check out very easy and convenient.

How this motel has received an average rating is beyond me. It was dirty, including rumpled beds and hairs on the pillows, and the AC was broken on a very hot day. Even the new room they moved us to was dusty and messy. The AC was down system wide.

nothing we stayed here a year ago and it was fine except lack of hot water for three showers, this time we could not believe how much the property had gone down. one example is it was 80 degrees outside and I had flannel sheets on my bed.so I had to sleep on top of bedspread and I won't list everything else. HAVE CAUTION IF YOU STAY HERE.

I'm surprised to get this review, I do not believe this person stayed in our motel. Our entire property has hot water, we just added new plumbing to 1/2 of our motel, and the hot water heaters are less than 2 years old. I'm not sure what they are referring to in regards to not having hot water for 3 showers, we would send someone ASAP if notified of any issues with hot water. Second, it's May, the lows range between 36 degrees and 50 degrees every night, the complaint stating the sheets were too warm seems odd. Nevertheless, if a guest is unhappy with the material of the sheets all they need to do is notify us. While I would enjoy speaking to this guest, this was submitted anonymously and I'm not aware of any complaints in the past few months. In addition, I would like to learn what they are referring to that they chose not to list, as we are always trying to improve our property. If any guest has any issue, we just ask that they share it with us, we will try to fix it as soon as possible and we are always trying to improve.

One of my worst motel experiences
Based on the reviews I read, I thought this inexpensive motel would be a good deal. It is not. The room was not clean. The remote felt like it hadn't been cleaned in several years. The bed was uncomfortable and I'm guessing the mattress is older than I am. Do yourself a favor - pay a little more and stay somewhere that doesn't suck.

A change from the standard motel
We stopped in Walker on our way to the Pacific Northwest. This motel is a delightful "blast from the past" place to stay. An old but well maintained building with charming, quirky rooms, it's like a place you might stay on a road trip in the 50s or 60s - but with modern TV and wifi. The staff was friendly and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Better value than nearby Bridgeport
My mistake, I thought I had made a reservation in Bridgeport, thirty miles south. So, I arrived late and the only deli/gas station had closed at 7:30. Snacks for supper! Otherwise, I liked this motel. Single story, direct access to comfortable clean room. Manager was helpful. .
