"The bedroom was clean but on arrival my husband had arranged a surprise which they did not deliver and then blamed technology. I'm allergic to cats and they have a resident cat which we saw the notice on the last day, this should be on the website, I was lucky I did not have an allergic reaction. The bread was mouldy which staff did clearly not see my husband had to inform them, not good for saying they claim to be 4 star!! Was not impressed by the menu either. Overall stay was ok "

"Hotel location, atmosphere, spa and room were nice. Reception staff - lovely. Bar/Restaurant Staff weren't rude but didn't seem bothered with actual service. I counted 10 dirty tables as we walked into the restaurant area, they were still all cluttered 90 minutes later. After waiting for table service for 15 minutes, I found a member of staff who asked to me follow them to the bar rather than serve us at the table, for no real reason than their convenience. We were approached once and asked whether we wished to order food but no one came back to ask as after that so we gave up. No one was rude, but no one really cared whether we were there or not. Spa was lovely and all the staff polite and engaging."

"The room and bathroom were very clean, as was the hotel in general. Our only disappointment was the standard of service at breakfast; whilst the food was excellent the service left a bit to be desired and the waitress was thoroughly miserable. She appeared to focus on table cleaning around us rather than being attentive to guests’ needs. Thankfully our breakfast was not contaminated by the cleaning fluid that she was using at an adjacent table."

"We had an goid stay at Macdonald Bear Hotel. The staff were excellent throughout, friendly, welcoming and very helpful. Our room was a good size and the location is fantastic, especially for exploring Woodstock and Blenheim Palace. Breakfast was ok, decent options but limited buffet. The room itself was a little dated and it wasn’t the quietest stay, mainly due to some very loud air con, even though it was turned off but sounded like rushing water. Overall a pleasant experience thanks to the great service and convenient location."

"Very old building, yet very charming. Many small sitting areas to read and to relax and they are really very cute. The facilities are very clean and well maintained. The staff are very helpful. A great experience for me. "
