"Great location just minutes’ walk from the ferry. Dennis was very welcoming and prepared delicious food. The Hideaway grounds are well kept, although they were still slightly affected by the tropical storm during our stay. Cable and internet service were excellent, and all amenities and special requests were graciously accommodated. Overall, a wonderful and comfortable stay! Swimming pool ocean views"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Clifton?
The best area to stay in Clifton is directly along the waterfront, particularly around the main street and the area facing Union Island's natural harbour.

This central area is the heart of Clifton, where you'll find most of the shops, restaurants, and activity. It's very convenient for accessing the ferry dock for day trips to neighbouring islands and for arranging sailing excursions. The main street runs parallel to the waterfront, offering easy access to the water and views of the surrounding cays.

For couples looking for a relaxing holiday with easy access to amenities, staying in a guesthouse or boutique hotel near the waterfront is ideal. You'll be able to enjoy strolls along the shore, dine at charming local eateries, and easily catch a boat for snorkelling or exploring the Tobago Cays. Many accommodations here offer private balconies with sea views, superb for enjoying the sunset.

Families will also find this central area practical due to its proximity to everything. It's simple to get provisions from local stores, find child-friendly dining options, and access water activities directly from the harbour.
When is the best time to go to Clifton?
The best time to go to Clifton is during the dry season, which runs from December to May, offering consistently sunny weather and pleasant temperatures.

This period avoids the rainy season and the higher risk of tropical storms, making it ideal for enjoying the island's outdoor activities and beaches. Temperatures typically range from 24°C to 30°C, with gentle trade winds providing a comfortable climate.

Couples seeking a relaxing escape will find this time superb for enjoying the calm waters for swimming and snorkelling, or simply unwinding on the beaches. The consistent sunshine ensures uninterrupted days for exploring the island or taking boat trips to nearby cays.

For those interested in sailing or watersports, the dry season offers optimal conditions with steady breezes and clear skies.
