Dry stone wall above Ystalyfera This dry stone wall is on a little used section of St Illtyd's Walk above Ystalyfera. Rather than protecting the footpath, over the years a buildup of stones combined with retention of water has made the footpath very difficult to walk on.

Swansea valley from Darren Fach A good view of most of this square from Darren Fach. You can clearly see the course of the old Swansea to Brynaman branch run diagonally through the picture. This is now part of the Sustrans cycle path network. What's less easy to see (but it's there if you look carefully) is evidence that there was once a railway junction right in the centre of the picture. Look very carefully at the fields to the right and you'll see a slight raised line run through them. This in fact is the original junction and course for the Vale of Swansea line to Brecon.

Gorsedd Stones in Ystradgynlais. Located in Gorsedd Park. The Ystradgynlais History website states that the Gorsedd Stones were erected for the National Eisteddfod of Wales held in Ystradgynlais in 1954. Although the main festival was held on the rugby club fields, the Druid ceremonies which form the essential core of the tradition were held here.
