8/10 Good
"The building was very secure. You needed to be let in by a staff member. The hotel was clean and the room had everything we needed. My only complaint would be there is no elevator. We were on the 3rd floor and had 2 suitcases plus some other items so it was exhausting after check-in. My boyfriend also has a bad knee so climbing all the stairs was a challenge for him. "

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Chilchota?
The best area to stay in Chilchota is within the town centre itself, particularly around the main plaza, Plaza Principal. This area is the heart of Chilchota, where daily life unfolds. You'll find the historic church, the municipal palace, and a selection of local shops and eateries all within a short walk of each other. The streets here are generally narrow and cobbled, giving it an authentic small-town Mexican feel. For travellers looking for an authentic cultural experience, this is the ideal spot.Couples often appreciate staying near the Plaza Principal for its convenience and the opportunity to experience local culture firsthand. You can enjoy evening strolls, sample regional cuisine at nearby restaurants, and watch local life from a cafe.

You'll find the weather pleasantly warm and sunny, great for outdoor activities. For those interested in local traditions, visiting in late October or early November is particularly special. This coincides with Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebrations, especially prominent in the nearby Pátzcuaro Lake region, where Chilchota's indigenous heritage shines through vibrant festivities. If you're planning a trip focused on outdoor adventures like hiking or visiting the nearby Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve, the cooler, drier months of December to February offer the most comfortable conditions.
