Malemi Organic Hotel

8/10 Good

"My room was very spacious, clean and, in addition to the large bed, was well kitted out with chairs, tables, etc - all things which make for a more enjoyable sojourn. The small outside terrace area was not only a pleasant place to relax, but included racks for drying clothes - most useful! There was an extensive range of food items - both hot and cold - for breakfast (taken in the spacious dining room). I only ate in the hotel on one evening, as I was trying out different restaurants in town, but the meal was good. The hotel itself is an easy, flat 10-minute walk into town along the beach-front promenade. If you're visiting Lesvos for the birdlife (as I was) then you'll see a fantastic range of species within the small marsh that you pass along the way. Magic!"

Sappho Hotel

8/10 Good

"I was “in-between” places and Sappho Hotel was in the budget, location and availability for three nights. My ONLY negative comment and it’s not just Sappho hotel, is that there are no designated smoking areas. As a non smoker you’re subjected to it everywhere. Please note: I was a smoker, I love to smoke, so I am not judging. Rather you are just surrounded by it constantly. From the rooms next door, from below and above. Otherwise i enjoyed my time in Greece and at Sappho Hotel"

Panselinos Hotel

"I stayed here for 2+ weeks. It is a perfect location, and has everything one needs. My room was clean and offered a lot of space, including an outdoor patio on the second floor. There were pots and pans and a dish rack. But not a real way to cook. There were no knives there was a cutting board but nowhere to store food. You cannot leave any food out as there are many ants if even a crumb is out. I give a four star review only because the food in the restaurant was adequate but nothing special compared to neighboring restaurants. That being said, I would return again next year."

Aeolian Beach Resort

8/10 Good

"We had a lovely time at this hotel with the kids. The kids pool is perfect to let adults rest on the side but keep a close eye on them. Rooms are basic but clean. The lift needs an upgrade as it is like entering a prison and the wardrobes of Narnia at the same time! Great coffee's from the pool car."

Birds Bay

10/10 Excellent

"Beautiful property great accommodations, had a luxury sweet with sea view. Property is terraced with reception, pool and food available on the lower section of the property. Beautiful infinity pool with absolutely stunning views especially the sunsets. Close to Petra and is about a 25 min walk but if you’re not in great shape get a cab. Also very close to Molivos which has great dining, shopping and cultural/historical attractions. Great part of the island to explore. Staff was friendly room was spacious with a fridge, hot plate, toaster, coffee maker, TV and a washing machine which was great. Also a nice patio to dine or spend time relaxing and an additional balcony off the bedroom to watch the sunsets from. Hope to come back next year."

Aegeon Hotel

10/10 Excellent

"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My stay at Aegeon Hotel was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. The owner and every member of the staff were truly exceptional. Their kindness, warmth, and genuine hospitality touched my heart. In today’s world, it is incredibly rare to meet people with such beautiful hearts. I sincerely hope that one day they will have the opportunity to visit Canada or Türkiye, because I would be honored to welcome them into my home and show them the same kindness they showed me. The hotel was spotless, peaceful, and beautifully maintained. Every morning we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast made with fresh local products. The olives from Lesvos were simply incredible—without a doubt some of the most delicious I have ever tasted. The owner went above and beyond to help me whenever I needed anything, making me feel more like a family friend than a guest. If I had more time, I would have happily stayed much longer. As I was leaving, they surprised me with a beautiful gift. It was such a thoughtful gesture that I will treasure forever. I will never forget their generosity, their smiles, and the way they made me feel at home. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making our stay so special. We didn’t just leave with wonderful memories of Lesvos—we left with memories of truly wonderful people. I look forward to returning one day. With my deepest gratitude, Tamer Yuksel Canada"

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Chidira?

The best areas to stay in Chidira are typically around the main village centre or in the quieter, more secluded accommodations just outside it.

The village centre of Chidira itself offers a convenient base. Here, you'll find the local tavernas, a small grocery shop, and the Petrified Forest Museum of Lesvos. The main square is a pleasant place to relax, and the streets are easy to navigate on foot. This area is great for travellers who appreciate having amenities within a short walk and enjoy a sense of local community.

For those seeking a more tranquil escape, particularly couples, consider accommodations a little way out from the village centre. These often provide more privacy and stunning views of the surrounding countryside, including olive groves and rolling hills. While you might need a car to reach the village, the peace and quiet, coupled with the opportunity to enjoy the natural beauty of Chidira, make it a worthwhile trade-off.

When is the best time to go to Chidira?

The best time to visit Chidira is during the late spring (May to early June) or early autumn (September to early October) to enjoy pleasant weather without the peak summer crowds.

During these shoulder seasons, the temperatures are comfortably warm, superb for exploring the island's natural beauty and archaeological sites. You'll find the beaches less crowded, and the local tavernas and shops are still fully operational, offering a more relaxed and authentic experience. The sea is also warm enough for swimming, and you can comfortably hike or cycle around the island.

For those who enjoy a lively option and don't mind warmer temperatures, July and August are also popular, though the island will be busier with more holidaymakers.
