Hotel Privo

Hotel Privo

8/10 Good
"I always have a good stay at Privo. Keep coming back year after year. It is a friendly place with nice buffet breakfast with some local delicacies and fresh breakfast items. I found that the safe was not working and after repeated requests the issue was still not corrected. Short of that and somewhat difficulty parking my stay was excellent."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Chibed?
The best area to stay in Chibed is within the village itself, particularly around the main road, DJ134A, which runs through its centre.

Chibed is a small, traditional Transylvanian village, and its charm lies in its rural setting and authentic feel. The main road, DJ134A, is where you'll find most of the guesthouses and local amenities. The village is characterised by its traditional Hungarian-style houses, often with colourful gates, and its general layout is quite linear along the road, with side streets branching off into farmland. This area provides easy access to the local church and the village's small shop.

Couples looking for a peaceful retreat will find staying within Chibed ideal. It offers a chance to experience rural Romanian life, with opportunities for quiet walks through the village or surrounding fields. Many guesthouses offer home-cooked meals, providing a taste of local cuisine. Its tranquil nature makes it superb for unwinding away from city life.

For travellers interested in local culture and traditions, staying directly in Chibed is an excellent choice. You'll be well-placed to observe daily village life, perhaps witness traditional crafts, or attend local events like the annual Onion Fair.
When is the best time to go to Chibed?
The best time to go to Chibed is during late spring (May-June) and early autumn (September-October) for pleasant weather and cultural experiences.

These periods offer comfortable temperatures, ideal for exploring the village and surrounding Mureș County. You'll find the countryside is at its most picturesque, with blooming flowers in spring and golden foliage in autumn. This is also a good time to experience local traditions without the peak summer crowds.

For those interested in local traditions and festivals, especially the renowned onion fair, September is a particularly good choice. The village becomes a hub of activity, showcasing local produce, crafts, and folk performances, providing a genuine insight into Hungarian Szekler culture.

If you prefer warmer weather and don't mind the occasional summer shower, July and August are also suitable.
