The view was nice. The room clean. The bathroom was not the best. Limited hot water and odd setup. The toilet getst wet every time you shower because it’s just open. Also it says there are laundry facilities but there are none. You have to walk a few blocks to a service that will wash for you and give it back to you in the afternoon. Staff was nice.

The staff at El Fuerte were definitely a highlight — very helpful, kind, and supportive throughout our stay. The rooms are a bit outdated, but they were clean and perfectly fine for what you’d expect at this level. There was a slight humid, musty smell at first, but it went away quickly once the AC was running. Overall, I’d rate it about 2.5 stars. Nothing fancy, but comfortable and pleasant — and I’d stay here again.

We had a lovely 5 nights in Mahahaul, the hotel is in a prime location, we ate in their restaurant a few times and the food was very good and prices reasonable.

The check in process was easy. All staff was very helpful. The receptionist even assisted me in carrying luggage. The beach club was awesome. Great food and drinks. Abraham was very hospitable and energetic. We will definitely return to this hotel and recommend it to anyone interested in a great location.

The room was great! I had a balcony overlooking the sea. I sat in the living room half the night just looking out the window at the well lit beach, while pretending to do work on my laptop. Downstairs, the restaurant had a nice vibe. I had the grilled shrimp tacos. They were amazing! I should have gotten an order for the road! Everything was great, from someone from reception walking me to my room, to the easy on-site parking. I will definitely be back.

The room was run down and it was incredibly loud at night to the point that we couldn’t sleep because of drunk people yelling all night and motorbikes zipping down the street. But what really made us mad was the false advertising of the “daybeds” (lounge chairs” being reserved for hotel guests. They were absolutely NOT. We had to argue to get 2 chairs (they said no more were available and that had to wait for the cruise ship tourists us to leave to get some). Meanwhile, there was a whole stack of chairs available, they just didn’t want to set them up for us. We had to argue with them to get them and finally they gave us 2 half busted chairs. We would never return to this place or to Mahahual in general. We only went there for diving and found that the whole town is a total trash filled, overpriced bust. There are a million better places in Mexico, avoid this place at all costs unless you enjoy being ripped off and surrounded by a bunch of uncultured cruisers.

We had a great stay at the hotel. The hotel is located right next to the beach and have an amazing view. The stuff are very friendly and smiling. We got a free upgrade to sea-view room, since they had some available. The rooms are big and very clean.

The hotel is right on the beach. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful even with my limited Spanish. The beach is very relaxing and the water is clear and seaweed free. This is a very family friendly environment. I highly recommend renting a car and come to Mahahual for a few days if you’re in Tulum or Cancun. Also this hotel is close to Chacchoben and Bacalar if you want to go explore for the day.

The staff was amazing! Very friendly and quick to help with anything we needed. I also liked the location very much! My disappointment was the Wi-Fi did not work. We were working remotely so this was very important. The Wi-Fi at hotel was out 95% of the time. They also lost power on our last day. Outside of that, the property and rooms were clean but felt very outdated and run down. I guess typical in a beach town but did make it feel as though we over paid for the accommodation. The bed was comfortable but pillows felt very hard and stiff. They also only gave top sheet with no comforter so was very chilly at night without a blanket.

I recently stayed at this hotel, and I cannot emphasize enough how disappointed I am with the entire experience. The photos online are extremely misleading and do not represent the actual state of the property. We booked this hotel because it was advertised as a three-star, but I can assure you, it couldn’t be further from the truth. To start with, nothing worked in our room. The TV was completely useless, and the internet was nonexistent. We reached out for assistance multiple times, but despite our efforts, no one was available to help us. It was incredibly frustrating to be ignored, especially when you're paying for a service that is clearly not being delivered. I would not recommend this place to anyone. If I could give it zero stars, I absolutely would. There are plenty of other options out there—do yourself a favor and steer clear of this one.

It was a terrible experience. The room was terrible. The gas pilots on the stove were open . I noticed it and reported. Thank God I smelled the gas. The propane tank was leaking gas and I told them to remove it.
