The Neighborhood: Talking Water is a dream-turned-reality created by the Sonner-Such family (John & Karen Sonner, Ken Sonner, and James & Bobbie Such). Together, we’re transforming an 82-acre mud-pit atop Suck Creek Mountain into an evolving sanctuary of living earth, eclecic creativity, and human connection.
We’re nestled in the rural Suck Creek Mountain community surrounded by nature’s best: 🌲 Prentice Cooper State Forest borders our southern end 💧 One mile of Suck Creek flows through our land to the east 🌊 The Tennessee River runs along our road at the base of the mountain
We’re doing our best to honor this powerful land with restoration, quirky charm, and a deep love for people and place.
Getting Around: You will want a car - or at least a bicycle! It is a 10-12 minute car ride down the mountain to get groceries.
Other Things to Note: 🛏 Sleeping Arrangements - King bed (sleeps 2) - Sleeper futon right next to the bed (sleeps 2 when unfolded) - Eno hammock hooks for 2 hammocks — hammocks and straps provided (sleeping in them is a guest favorite!)
🚗 Parking - Chickadee includes parking for 3–5 cars in the driveway. - Need more? Just message us to arrange additional parking.
🐾 Pets - Pets are welcome with prior approval from the hosts. A pet fee applies. - Guests are responsible for any damage and must crate pets when unattended (crates available upon request). - Please keep pets under control at all times and clean up all waste.
Interaction with Guests: We, the Sonner-Such family members, work out of the garage office during the day and do the cabin cleanings. Feel free to say hi or to keep to yourself!

Perfect relaxation respite
Love the decor in these cute cabins! So relaxing and we had unusually warm fall weather this past weekend which allowed us time outdoors at the pavilion where we enjoyed cooking and dining with friends! Amazing hosts and the ultimate for relaxation!
quaint cottage in the woods in the beautiful Prentice Cooper Forest. Fully equipped just bring your clothes and food. Wish we could have stayed longer.
This property was in a great location for our event at a nearby wedding venue. It was outfitted 100%! I loved the claw foot tub and antique sink. It was very comfortable and in a peaceful location.
The trip was wonderful..... peaceful, surrounded by nature, and so relaxing. The cabin had everything that we needed and then some....
The fire pit was an added bonus, along with a trail near by.
The only thing that I would change would be the cabin so close to the road....
We'd definitely book again!
This place was amazing!!! Bobbie is a great host and has done a real nice job with the property. Our favorite things were the outdoor hammock and towel heater (it’s the small things that matter). The bed and sheets were so comfy and soft, honestly the best bed I’ve slept in at a rental property. 100% recommend staying here and it’s not too far from all the tourist “hot spots” and downtown area of Chattanooga.
We booked this cozy cabin for 2 nights during the Longest Yard sale because of the convenience. We couldn't be happier that we did! Everything was perfect from the blackout blinds to the clawfoot tub/shower inside and the shower outside. The rope bed outside was a wonderful treat after a long day of "yard shopping". We had a thunderstorm the 2nd night and the sound of the rain on the metal roof just added to the ambiance and restful sleep. We didn't have time to explore the property or trails but we will be back. I cannot recommend this location and hosts enough!
Such a beautiful place. Bobbie thouht of everything even down to most little detail. She made us feel welcomed. We only could stay 1 night. But will stay here again! .She went out of her way to help us with a special request. Thank you. Will tell everyone we know !
