"Expedia still doesn't have a lot of reviews, but go on Google maps and see for yourself. This place is amazing! Staff and owners were great, food was amazing and the view...just wow. I had an SUV and had no problem going up the small track to the farm stay, but I would have had a difficult time as a foreigner with a city car."

"This place was a lovely gem tucked away in a little village, and it was a real treat to go down and eat at a local chop bar and buy chicken and fried banana bananas from the lady in her Booth. We enjoyed staying here and it was a nice treat to have a pool. We were the only ones there for the first night and we were served when we were ready to eat at the restaurant which was great. I think a few minor repairs would take this place to the next level for example, the bottom step leading up to our...

We enjoyed staying here and it was a nice treat to have a pool. We were the only ones there for the first night and we were served when we were ready to eat at the restaurant which was great. I think a few minor repairs would take this place to the next level for example, the bottom step leading up to our room was rotting, and there was another rotting piece of wood put over top of it. It was slightly unsafe, but otherwise this place was great and I would stay there again."

"Stay was so peaceful! Staff was so helpful and friendly with everything. Small space but enough for someone who wants to scape away from the city a little bit. Food was ordered and brought to our room and it was delicious 😋. Totally recommend for someone who wants to scape away to the mountains."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Chang Khoeng?
The best area to stay in Chang Khoeng is Mae Kampong Village, known for its serene mountain setting and traditional way of life.

Mae Kampong Village is the heart of Chang Khoeng's appeal, located in the mountains east of Chiang Mai city. It's a small, compact village built along a stream, with wooden houses, local cafes, and guesthouses blending into the natural landscape. The village is surrounded by lush forest and tea plantations, offering a peaceful escape.

Couples looking for a romantic and tranquil retreat will find Mae Kampong ideal. You can enjoy strolls through the tea fields, visit the local waterfall, or simply relax on a balcony with mountain views. The pace of life here is slow, great for unwinding and enjoying each other's company away from the city bustle.

For solo travellers seeking a peaceful and reflective experience, Mae Kampong offers a welcoming environment. You can explore the village's small shops, sample local delicacies, or hike the surrounding trails.
When is the best time to go to Chang Khoeng?
The best time to visit Chang Khoeng is during the cool, dry season, which typically runs from November to February.

This period offers pleasant temperatures, usually ranging from 20°C to 28°C, with low humidity and clear skies, making it ideal for outdoor activities and exploring the natural beauty of the region. It's superb for those who enjoy comfortable weather for hiking, visiting local villages, or simply relaxing by the Mae Ping River.

Families often find this season particularly good as the comfortable weather allows children to enjoy outdoor excursions without the intensity of the hot season or the disruptions of the rainy season. Many local festivals also take place during these months, offering a glimpse into the local culture.

For couples seeking a romantic getaway, the cool season provides a lovely setting for scenic drives through the mountains, enjoying a meal overlooking the river, or experiencing the tranquil surroundings of the countryside. The evenings are also cooler, which is pleasant for dining out.

While this is the most popular time, it also means it can be busier.
