Cerro Otto is a snowy peak with a stunning view of the beautiful mountains, lakes and forests of Bariloche. It has a rotating restaurant and a mountaintop art gallery with a focus on replicas of Michelangelo’s sculptures. Explore various trails that lead for miles in every direction from the peak.
Take the cable car, which is called the Teleférico, up to the summit of the mountain. It fits four people in each cabin. Enjoy the stunning vistas, as you soar over lakes, mountains and forest canopies. Hike up to the top within about 45 minutes. From here follow one of the walking trails that head out in various directions. Take a break at a refuge called Berghof on the way up or down.
At the summit, capture photos of the extraordinary views, which include many of the area’s best attractions. Spot Lake Nahuel Huapi and some of the lower peaks of the Andean mountains. Look down over the city of Bariloche, as you feel the strong, cool winds blowing in your face.
Visit the art gallery placed in the surreal location atop the snowy mountain. Peruse the intriguing recreations of Michelangelo’s sculptures, including a life-size version of his famous David.

The admission for the chairlift is fairly inexpensive. The lift opens daily from morning until early evening. Alternatively, climb the mountain for free.
The chairlift to access Cerro Otto is just 6 miles (10 kilometres) west of the centre of Bariloche. Take a short taxi ride or a bus to the chairlift or use the regular shuttle service from the Civic Centre. The mountain is a little west of the Piedras Blancas Ski Resort.
