This hotel is unique. It resides within a building designed by H.H. Richardson, one of the great 19th c. architects and the father of Romanesque Revival style in the U.S. The experience is particularly interesting because this building (and others next to it) were originally designed as a mental health asylum.

The Roycroft Inn is unique and provides a respite place with history. The restaurant had excellent food that is part of the Inn. The Roycroft campus across the street is very interesting and worth a walk through and tour. The Inn has an incredible collection of arts and craft furniture in the main rooms as well as the sleeping rooms. Overall the property could use a refresh, new carpet and painting and a scrubbing. The bones of the places are great, but the interiors are tired.

My friend and I stayed at the Mansion for 10 days and it was a joy! The breakfasts are really gourmet and really kept us nourished until the late afternoon. The staff were very good natured and helpful. The room was comfortable and very clean. I heard no noise from inside the hotel though I was in a front-facing room and there was some street noise. The parking lot across the street was very convenient. Also, the location to restaurants is amazing. We walked quite a bit through the Elmwood neighborhood quite a bit and were routinely delighted in all the beautiful houses and hidden shops and bar/restaurants.

Room issues: The TV did not work, many of the lights were burnt out, and the toilet was dirty on arrival. Parking: Expedia lists this property as offering free 24-hour offsite parking. When we arrived, the front desk attempted to provide the free parking, but it was not working. Staff told us to email the hotel manager about it. We emailed promptly and never received a response. Staff conduct at the hotel: The front desk agent on duty was rude throughout our interaction and refused to tell me their name. The agent on duty the following day was equally rude — when I described our experience, they dismissed it and showed no concern. The lobby was also in poor condition. Customer Care call: When I called Wyndham Customer Care to report this, the representative was rude and dismissive — as rude as the staff at the front desk. The representative also told me parking is not free, which contradicts both the Expedia listing and the fact that the hotel's own front desk tried to provide the free parking. I ended the call because I would not continue to be spoken to that way. I will never be stepping a foot into a Wyndham property ever again.
