"We wanted to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, and would normally have gone somewhere hot for this milestone but with Covid we are still not prepared to fly anywhere, so were looking for something different to just a ‘hotel room’, I saw this advertised on Expedia, and it looked to be just what we were looking for, a bit of luxury in a tranquil setting, just the down time we needed after a busy year. Penbontbren ticked all the boxes, the suites are lovely, an old barn conversion, our suite...
"Off to a bad start due to the, otherwise very pleasant, owner pouncing on us as we arrived following a day of travel. We really just wanted to be left alone to arrive and unpack. Not the right time to attempt to convey information and instructions as we unpacked from the car.
Nicely situated geographically with a lovely view of the sea from the front facing windows (the only windows unfortunately) and front door. Unfortunately, a public footpath goes straight past your only windows and front...
"Our stay at Y Cartws was lovely and relaxing, very cosy cottage. Was amazing to walk the ground and interact with the goats and horses. The nearby river was very relaxing to listen to, especially in the hot tub at night. Hot tub is at a set temperature which cannot be adjusted.
Amenities were great, kitchen is well stocked with utensils and had delicious home made brownies waiting for us.
Property was mostly clean but there was some negatives, bathroom was either mouldy or mould stained....

"I booked a single room which was ok. A little tired but obviously, the main rooms with a view possibly being sorted first. The other rooms left early in the morning and left the doors slam which kept me awake from the early hours. Door fixings need to b more gentle when they close. I did ring down to reception but failed to get an answer as I was having trouble with the tv remote. Unable to get the volume increased. I’m sure, in time, all the rooms will b renovated."
"Cosy cottage with every amenity. It was easy to park opposite. We didn’t use the garden as there was a heatwave. When at the cottage, we tended to stay indoors and keep the curtains closed. The owner was very helpful when we asked her for advice. Two very minor criticisms - I did find the bed a little too firm for me, but ok for my husband. A also I would have liked the shower head to have been detachable, as I forgot my shower cap. "

"The property was ideal for our family - wife, son and Dog. Everything was very clean and well laid out, plenty of space and every facility we needed. There was a great view of the river Teifi estuary which was very welcoming and picturesque to wake up to every morning. There was plenty of places to walk to, including Poppit Sands Beach - ideal for walking the dog and having a dip in the sea. We caught some crabs from jetty just 2 minutes walk from the property. It was a great location to visit all the local beaches and coves on the west coast of wales near Cardigan. Highly recommended."
