"Room was spacious and clean. Central location close to restaurants and the beach. All walkable and felt safe walking around. Property was very dated, workout room was tight and cramped with 3 cardio machines in there. Small indoor pool, good for kids. When I arrived around 8-9pm, there was no one at the front desk. I had to wait around for 10 minutes or so before someone finally showed up. There were a few times that I went down to the lobby when I needed to buy a water or came in after dinner late and no one was at the front desk. Not sure if that is normal or maybe they were short staffed in the 2 days I was there? Feels odd not to have a friendly staff member at the front especially late at night when anyone can walk through the doors since the doors remain unlocked. They also don’t have daily housekeeping. I was only there for 2 nights so it was no big deal. On the last day housekeeping was knocking on my door 20 mins before checkout despite the do not disturb. I said I’d be out by checkout and she pre-thanked me if I decided to leave a tip. I thought that was odd. Tip for what I’m not sure since they don’t offer daily housekeeping and didn’t request anything. Price was also high compared to a modern hotel I paid for the night before in Madison. Maybe limited options in sheboygen?"

"The staff was very friendly. Our room had some grimey stuff on the cabinet of the fridge that was very sticky. There were crumbs and stuff in the corners by the bed. A lot of light was coming through the door frame. And there were holes in the blackout curtain. Room smelled slightly of smoke. Bed was one the most comfortable beds I have slept on. Not bad, but needs some improvements."

"This was our 3rd time staying at Sandalwood Cottage. It is always very clean and has all the essentials needed to make our visit enjoyable. It’s very homey and comfortable. Amy is very responsive and a great communicator. We will look to stay here again the next time we are in town."

"The backyard and location on the lake is the star of this listing. The backyard and outdoor amenities provided was excellent. The architecture of the home is also unique and has plenty of space for people to spread out and come together. The internet worked well and the kitchen was well-stocked. The furniture in the living areas was comfortable.The renovations and updates listed in the description seem from a previous time. For example, the mattress in the master bedroom was sloped and dented. The bathrooms, kitchen, and wood floors were well cleaned. However, there was pet hair on items throughout the house, mouse dropping and dead bug carcasses in the 3rd floor bedroom, and some garbage that had been missed (e.g. old Culver's ice cream cup on screened-in porch shelf).We went before Memorial Day and only had four people, so place accommodated our needs at a good price for the location."

"We stayed 2 nights for the Road America Motorcycle racing event. We stayed here last year as well. There was a boys soccer tournament that weekend also and there was a group that stayed at the hotel as well and very frustrating that they were not respectful to other guest and the hotel staff did nothing about them or the parents. They were running in the halls, screaming, knocking on all the doors. The breakfast area was hard to use and food was gone by 7:30 am. The hotel did have new carpet. So it was clean in that respect."

"This was an excellent place to stay and we hope to return. The lake views in two directions out two sets of large windows, plus from the decking on two sides of the house, were stunning. The set-up of the house and the ample kitchen gear supplied fit our needs perfectly. We made good use of the indoor gas fireplace, outdoor gas deck fire feature and the real-wood fire pit in yard."

"We were disappointed with the over all cleanliness. The yard definitely need care, the back patio had tripping hazards with rotting boards sticking out. I asked Jason for the departure rules, He asked if I received the email from him. I did receive a email from Cozy Cabin Guidebook, but wasn’t sure it was from him. After he asked if I received a email I did try to open the link but received an error message several times. I contacted the host again and explained that I was unable to open the link. I have not received anything from him after that, no more contact. We did put all the used towels in the laundry room along with the dirty linens. Put all the dirty dishes in the dishwasher and started it. And took all the trash out. We will not be staying there again."

"I did not stay here despite my reservation and request a full refund of my money. Trying to check in after the posted ‘check in’ time, no one was the desk for 30 minutes of bell ringing. Returning two hours later, still noone there for another 30 minutes. I finally called the number on the front door(no where near the desk) and was told they did not have a reservation in my name. After learning that I booked through Expedia, I was told that Expedia ‘kept doing that’ to them and that there were no rooms available. And I was told that my room would have cost an additional $34 because of “taxes”. I left then and returned home. Please refund my room charge."

"Alan and Linda were wonderful hosts. The views were amazing and the peace was what we were looking for. We wanted a quiet, relaxing place to celebrate my husband’s 50th birthday and this was perfect. We grilled out, lit a fire by the beach and made s’mores. We biked and played cornhole. The only issue we had was that we didn’t book for a longer stay. We are already planning our next stay."
