I’ve been staying at this hotel a couple times a year for the last 10 years. I absolutely love the area. It’s in a great neighborhood. I also love that the hotel feels more like apartments than a hotel. That being said that was the last time I’m going to stay at the Beacon. They are doing some maintenance, but the noise was not really a problem, but the great things about the hotel are no longer worth the price or the accommodations. It’s really the small stuff, the kitchen area needs an update. It is small and cramped even by New York standards. Same with the bathroom, it would be great to have some bathroom cabinets since the only place to store things are on a small ledge. The shower has amazing water pressure but you have to be careful and watch out for brown water. Sometimes it comes out when you first turn the water on, but we had it turn brown while we were showering, which was gross. It would also be great if anywhere in the apartment there was a full length mirror. There is a mirror, but it’s above the couch, which is not convenient at all. Overall, if they did an overhaul on the decor and fixed, whatever is wrong with the plumbing, I might consider coming back, but until then I’m going to find somewhere else to stay.
