About this property
Cabin #3 - "Tamarack"
Cabin #3 - "Tamarack" Named after a type of pine tree found in the Northern United States and Canada, this one is similarly named to its sister cabin. With the largest enclosed porch, this 2 bedroom, 490 sq ft cabin becomes a great gathering place.
This Vintage Rustic cabin, primarily designed for the camping & fishing enthusiast, is just one cabin of a 7 cabin resort. This cabin was built in the early 1930's and holds every bit of that vintage character. It may be a little rough around the edges but this authentic cabin holds the wonderful allure of days gone by. Electrical outlets would have been added a few years later and air conditioning wasn’t even thought of at that time. Those details won't matter to the outdoorsy kind coming for the camping experience where lake activity fills your day and evenings are enjoyed around the campfire. This charming cabin has a knotty pine interior and all the basics to create an Up North camping style atmosphere. A lifestyle one will appreciate becoming acquainted with.
All the cabins are lined up next to each other along the shore of a beautifully serene lake. This close proximity to other cabins have traditionally created a friendly community style atmosphere where guests mingle and create lasting friendships. This is the kind of place where your grandparents brought your parents, your parent’s brought you, and you are now bringing your children to create beautiful memories while spending a nostalgic vacation in a familiar old cabin.
The listed rate reflects the price for 4 adults or a family with children up to 6 people total. Additional adults beyond 4 will incur additional charges. This cabin has a sleeping capacity up to 6 people utilizing 2 bedrooms, each with a queen size bed and a futon in the living room. There's a kitchen with everything to cover your basic needs, a dinning space and a simple bathroom that includes a warm shower. The spacious 18’x7’ enclosed porch overlooking the lake is the perfect spot for an evening card game with friends.
Whether you are looking for a home base to camp at the lake or a base camp while you explore the area’s attractions, you will enjoy this cozy cabin and all its imperfections. More than anything, you’re gonna love the authentic charm and the carefree lifestyle that comes with camping Up North.

We had a great stay at this property! The description and pcitures were accurate, very rustic but charming. The view and the lake were amazing and Ritchie was great at communicating. We really enjoyed our stay!
You have to meet the owner to check in - would have preferred a no contact check in so you don’t feel like you’re putting him out waiting for us to show up.
Location is on the water and great vibe. Bathroom could be updated.
We really enjoyed our stay and would 100% stay here again. The cabins are old and do need some work, but our overall experience was amazing. The view is great and super peaceful to sit out at night or wake up to in the morning. My kids absolutely loved it here too so that is an added bonus! Definitely recommend! And Richie was super friendly and a great host!
This place was perfect for us, sitting right on a 19,000 acre Lake. screened-in porch very unique country feel in a log home. probably 15 mi from Mackinaw City we honestly put 900 miles on our vehicle while staying there for 3 days. Petoskey, Charlevoix, Boyne Mountain ,Sheboygan, Harbor Springs, and the UP
Enjoyed our stay very much, screened in porch was great and so was the view. Very clean, beds were very comfortable location was great two stores and two restaurants within walking distance.
Beautiful location and view, had some very noisy neighbors.

Rich was so nice and helped us in away that he could. Over we would go there again. The location was perfect. Somethings need work but nothing to stop us from going back
The lake outside your cabin and screened in porch were highlights of our 2-night stay. The condition of the cabin and accommodations were a bit disappointing. Updated mattresses, regular coffee pot (not a Keurig with no mention of needing pods), improving kitchen cookware, a good cleaning and fresh paint would make this cute place much more enjoyable.
It was a great location - right on the water. The cabin was rustic. Shower and toilet were less than I hoped for. Lock on front door was hard to lock from inside. And, there was no secure lock on back door.
Really good location. Right on Carp Lake where you can view some great sunsets. Also a short drive to Wilderness State Park. Cabin was super nice and even had wifi and a smart TV. It was a perfect place for guy’s weekend. The owner Ritchie was very nice. Would recommend like others have said to bring extension cords or power strips if you think you’ll be using them as outlets are limited. But we really enjoyed our stay and will most likely be back.

Black mold in bathroom / roof leaked
There is black mold in the bathroom - the roof leaked and we had a puddle of water in the bathroom
window screens did not fit property in window.
Cabin is located right on carp lake beautiful views. A Restaurant to eat is very close and food is good. The cabin was clean and in very good condition. We had a very good experience.
Right on Carp Lake! Relaxing porch is a few feet from the water! Two convenient restaurants very close with great food. Perfect for day trips to Mackinaw Island and Whitefish Point. Not fancy. Bring extention cords as no outlets in the bedrooms. Bathroom needs an update. Cement floor. Loved our 2 night stay!
Beautiful lake views perfect for star gazing and sunrises. Rustic not fancy but clean and comfy.
Really enjoyed this rustic find. Would recommend bringing your own soap and K cups. Would have loved wood for the fire pit. Just a couple of small upgrades would be nice.
We really enjoyed our stay in the vintage cabin. It really is charming and quaint. Our favorite part is the screened in porch and we spent our time on the porch or at the waterfront. Very nice little lake. Very relaxing.
