Property Description:
Five minutes from Carmel or Monterey, this secluded home is a dream get-away for a couple seeking quiet beauty and charm as a way to balance all the easily accessed fun of the Peninsula. This Jack's Peak cottage, a secret paradise, is a discovery you won't want to miss. This cottage used to be a milking barn for a small farm. It is now part of a very exotic estate on 23 acres in Jack's Peak. If you have read Steinbeck and especially Tortilla Flat and Cannery Row, you will be sleeping there tonight!
The entrance to the estate is gated and the Casita cottage guest house is completely secluded. It was recently remodeled and is very comfortable. It is about 575 square feet, with a combined kitchen/living area including a twin daybed for a third person/ child. There is a $100 surcharge per night for the third person.
The one bedroom is ultra quiet with a comfortable King bed, privacy blinds, authentic Tibetan furnishings, and a "65 screen with streamed WiFi. The glass-sided shower is tiled to the ceiling with limestone and the shower head with hose is marvelous with several settings. Shampoos and clean towels are provided. The "water closet" (toilet) has its own small private space. The patio area is lovely (one of the most enjoyable areas) and is enclosed by sequoia redwoods that are about 20 years old. It has a new HotSpring spa to soak in on the private patio, Weber grill, an adjacent secret garden with overhanging grape arbor and fire pit for late night star gazing.
The house is heated when necessary by a wood burning stove/fireplace. (There is plenty of wood available on the deck to fuel the fires!) The passive solar from the windows on the patio are usually sufficient to heat the house, however, space heaters that quickly warm it are also available.
Casita Cottage guests will have ample secured private parking immediate to the guest house in the driveway.
Interaction with Guests and Guest Access:
The Host, Peterson, will greet you and go over essentials upon confirmation of the reservation and/or before your arrival at which time the main property gate code and his phone number will be made available. Please feel free to contact him for any questions or issues. There are other residents on the estate who could help in an all-out emergency, but privacy for all is the rule of the day.
The Neighborhood:
We love the birds! Owls, Redwing Hawks. Oh so many birds. We feed them, too. Our neighbors treasure their privacy and this is considered a rural neighborhood, with five acre minimums to build. Very quiet, and we ask our guests to be relatively quiet also.
There is also a small herd of sheep and goats maintaining the property vegetation who love any extra treats you might want to share on the way to a hike in Jack's Peak Regional Park (900 acres to hike and enjoy the view), which is an easy walk from our driveway.
